Rod Red Head

How about some kind of rest with a small wheel which when line passes over it the wheel turns and makes a high pitched sound to alert you to a bite :)

Maybe 'Pinkie'was ahead of it's time:

Tart !! :p

Instead of the wheel what you need is some sort of strain gauge connected to a Wheatstone bridge......Much more sensitive and no moving parts see.

A couple other alternatives; rather than a wheel turning, how about one that works on vibration, thinking Delkims.;)
Or for the more descerning angler (who appreciates peace and serenity) there's ATT's and if you have a change of mind, buy a sounder box...:D

Now the real question: Which bankstick, I use Dinsmore Arrow Points...:)

Discuss.:D:D

Ade, you can accuse me of many things. On this occasion though it was more my slow typing than a lack of understanding of electrics and subsiquently your post (a phone call to answer).
That said its 20yrs+ since I was bored stupid in my physics lessons and so only ever learnt the real basics anyhow.:)

How about a device attached to your body that enables you to 'feel' the line so when a fish takes the bait you know about it via a series of vibrations.

We could call it a Fin Ger.
