Reflections of your season.

Personally ive had a great year with a great bunch of lads, fished a lot of new areas, and weve all done well and still learning and trying different things and most importantantly enjoying every moment. Good luck for the next season! My highlight was Mr Wagstaff tripping over a cow in the dark and waking the rest of the herd up nearly damped:D

Occasionally a little spoiled by online loons and other shrieky creatures, but ... Christmas Eve and Boxing Day barbel on the only two occasions I fished purposely for barbel during the whole season. But some perch, some very nice perch, quite a lot of them, plus my first-ever 7-pound chub (on float, too).

been better, but that's fishing, trip over a cow?
it's not exactly small, sounds funny though.

A slow summer and autumn for me on a new piece of river. A decent winter as I got to grips with things including a PB river Pike.

Poor season on a river that had its barbel heyday 3 years ago slowly as every season passes the barbel fishing gets worse. Highlight well haven't had anything worth shouting about falling in being the only interesting thing.

Ive had a enjoyable season, caught most species to a decent size on the float ;) and made some new friends along the way !

Not quite the same type as mr wagstaffs though :D

Happy days :)

Excellent season, still going hopefully;) Had some great sessions with some fierce lads;) Mr Wagstaff ! has I recall;) nobody fell over that one mate;) come on mate - dont be shy:D:eek: HQ- top shop

Hi men,

Nice summer stalking a little river , tap clear water where they often made a monkey of you , sometimes only inches from the rod tip . Making the swims ( pushing undergrowth aside ), squeezing into little gaps , walking miles as the crow flies , even farther as the river meanders :D . Sues 3 doubles in 4 casts , one of which was under the rod tip , with me and James sitting chatting by her side as the rod wrenched down !.

Finding that centerpins are overrated :p , that split cane is even more so :p , and catching during the heat of the hottest days and not at night :p .

On the downside , my mate Dave Mason ending up in hospital knocked the stuffing out of the fishing , and shows theres more to life .

Not much barbel fishing this year, freezer still full of bait!
Some big perch on lures, cracking chub on the float and first ever grayling......magic.

Had my best season for years , it has tailed off in last few weeks but been chubbing more than anything but off after barbel this afternoon .

Highlights for me were a 7.7 chub and a near 12lb Wye barbel. But even more special was the Missus catching her first two. She retired with sore arms soon afterwards!

A couple of red letter barbel days, a new (modest) PB, deciding that centrepins really aren't for me. Loved catching barbel on the float and have loved getting back to being the more allround angler than I have been for the past few seasons. I've enjoyed my barbel fishing more for doing quite a bit less of it.

Great pictures Graham. My wife loves a go - she get's right into it, but as she usually catches the biggest fish of the day i've banned her ;)

I've loved nearly every minute of the river season. It started with me getting drenched and losing my sense of humour on the Trent only to leave my soaking tackle in the car, go back the next day and catch 4 doubles in three hours. I enjoyed getting to know the Yorkshire rivers in the summer with only modest results but they are a wonderful antidote to the Trent for a summer evening.

Come the winter, i haven't managed my target perch but three pikey twenties and a very special barbel have been more than enough.

I'm already planning my tench and carp campaign :)

Another thank god for the wye!

Although I am looking at more local rivers given the cost of fuel.

A new PB from the Wye 10lb 11oz - very happy.

But just like my headstone will say...........Here lies Chris because he didn't fish enough!

Still hoping for a Ribble Barb before end of the season (although I am limited to day tickets so we will see how it goes!)

fished a bit less than usual because of work, but when I did go, my only reflection would be that generally the barbel seemed smaller and the chub bigger compared to previous seasons - the chub to the tune of 8lb+, a new PB for me, which has got to be the highlight of this and many seasons to come.

Am going to try to get out two or three more times before the curtain comes down next week.

On the plus side I caught barbel on every occasion I fished for them this season.

On the downside I only managed two barbel specific trips all season.

More seriously, I had a second different fully scaled mirror from Redmire which I'm pretty chuffed about and I had an absolute magic - intentional - day on the gudgeon on the Royalty. I hadn't had a day quite like that since the '70's when it was a bite a chuck from start to finish fishing Canbury Gardens in Kingston.

The less said about this seasons game fishing exploits the better. 0 salmon, 14 sea trout from the Royalty and just one brownie to show on a day at Blagdon despite every other bloody angler catching limit bags on fast sinking lines and stripping back lures. Mind you it was a 4lb 2oz brownie on a dry.;)

Had a really quiet season after a tremendous start.Business pressure leaving little or no time week after week and then hospital appointments followed by another prolonged stay in hospital means i,ve not been on the bank in bloomin ages.
Its all change this coming season, the staff can look after the business,me and the missus are going fishing.Although if she keeps catching bigger barbel than me i may have to resort to a little pre baiting my favourite swims
