Daiwa GS4000 . . .arguably the better looking, younger cousin of the SS2600 and a lot cheaper! (saying that I love my SS2600 for floater fishing / stalking and wouldn't part with them ever). . . Don't go for the Daiwa 20 GS BR LT 5000 as its tiny in reality . . .

Last season I saw a chap using Castizm Feeder reels on his Hi-S barbel set up . . .they were really nice and QD. Personally I'm after an upgrade to my trusty 20yr old 5010GT Baitrunners . . .seriously considering a pair of Daiwa Emblem BR 25A as they're basically the same body / spool size as the Castizm BR but a lot cheaper . . .!

Another vote for Thunnus. but it's tricky getting any rare Shimano since the pandemic shut them down for months. I used A&M Angelsport, great to deal with.

When i bought mine, i got the EU model which came with a sensible handle, and a second option which is what you see on the adds on ebay and alike. the EU handle is fine and more in line with what you get on a 4000D.

Find the so called 'small egg' handles on my Thunnus 4000 quite comfortable to use.

Was in the shop today enquiring about the Daiwa br25a and they also suggested I look at the Shimano xtb medium long cast baitrunner. Anybody have any feedback on this. Will be used on a Powermesh barbel 2.75 for when extra water on and hopefully river carp.

Just got a Okuma Pulzar 4000 through the post today. Seems a lovely little from my quick play. It is fairly small about shimano 4000 size. Maybe the 6000 would be better on bigger reels, but all my fishing is a under arm lob it seems spot. Time will tell what it’s like.

Picked up a set of VGC 2nd hand BR25A's . . .first couple of outings and must say I'm impressed. More compact (Castizm BR body)
and lighter than expected, line lay is great and the extra spool size useful if weir fishing / lobbing over 40yds etc when casting. Retrieve rate is excellent with significant cranking power for larger feeders etc - bail arm also solid and the baitrunner is good as is the front drag . . .only thing I don't like are the plastic feeling spool caps and non auto folding Daiwa handle which is a disgrace for a Daiwa reel . . .as for longevity / abuse only time will tell!

Okuma Aventa Baitfeeders for me in 6000 size, absolutely stonking reels for £80 each. I've retired my Shimano Medium Baitrunner CI4+ £260 jobbies for these.
