"I'm a meat eater Damian, I believe that if you want to eat meat then you should be willing and able to kill and prepare it."
I'm a motorist but I do not necessarily want to assemble my own car
"In the past my family have kept, killed and eaten most common livestock up to and including goats."
That is because your family were rustlers
"I have also worked in a meat processing plant where my job was deboning cows heads."
Are you sure that wasn't a joke job given to the apprentices?
"I would not kill simply for the sake of killing but I see nothing wrong with taking a few trout for the table and my method of dispatching trout is no more or less humane than bashing them on the head with a purpose made stick. "
Tim is correct - there is no CAC rule requiring these fish to be killed. Nevertheless, as a non-native and predatory species, their presence in the Avon is unwelcome and I'm sure that NE and the EA would not take issue with these fish being removed on capture.
What we could do, I suppose, is set up tanks for them to be kept in so that they could be used for restocking the trout lakes.......!!! Might save us some money but not sure what the trout members would make of that!
But seriously, although there is no rule on the matter, they should be removed from the water and disposed of as the angler sees fit.
