Quivers with sleeves or any other options!?

Hi all,

Still not happy with the rod bag for my Free Spirit rods. When I got them I was all out focused on protection and having them in an enclosed bag. Having used the rods this weekend, getting them in and out was a bit of pain. I have tried the Korum Total Protection 2 rod holdall (great idea, but no brolly pocket FAIL!!), the Drennan Specialist 2 rod holdall (very nicely made but couldn't fit the reels in) and i'm currently using a Shimano Tribal 2 rod compact sleeve (does a job and bought because it was cheap and I needed something to put me on 😅) but i'm finding it a little awkward to use.

I'm now thinking about a quiver for ease of use again, but one where I can protect the rods a lot more than an open topped quiver. Not sure I fancy just sticking a hood over the top of one as that then means separating the rods with something before covering the top up, which all seems a faff.

So, i've seen that Aqua Products do a roving sling, and for this you can get 3/4 lightweight sleeves that will simply slot over and cover the rods to below the reel, I think i'd be happy with that level of cover as it's usually the top end of the rods and the reels that I bash. Having read the one critical review I can find, the issues with this quiver seem to be that the bottom rod retaining slot isn't separated into single rod slots, it has just one large opening for the butt sections (although it does have a strap that can bed pulled tight across the handles), the shoulder pad is fixed (the reviewer didn't like the position) and the general pockets are tight, however the reviewer was trying to use it with 3 rods, a bivvy style brolly and was also trying to get a landing in too which I wouldn't be, so these are potentially non issues for me.

So, after all that flab above, anyone got one? Or use a quiver with sleeves that they can recommend I look at? 😂

I use a Drennan quiver with the specialist rod sleeves, well made and light - some might be more rigid but they work for me, the short sleeve is OK for a 3 piece or a float rod but you would need the long sleeve for anything else. Hope this helps - not seen the Aqua one but their stuff is generally well made if not a bit pricey!
 
In the same boat myself.

I have the Korum 2 rod holdall but not being able to fit my brolly in there is annoying. Never used a quiver before for any angling, always holdalls.

Looking at either of the below which both look decent. Though not sure where your landing net handle goes?

I like the look of the Drennan with full sleeves, although they do look like a tight fit for the reels, a bit like their holdall. I will definitely look at these though 👍

Design fail of the year that lol, I bought it on recommendation, problem is, the one people were using and recommending was the version before that and DID have a brolly pocket! Doh!
 
I was using the Shimano purist quiver , I just used tip tops for the rods , or thinking anglers longer tip sleeves, but the clips the stitching kept coming undone , great concept but poor stitching , I’m using a Drennan super specialist now , love it, I don’t take a brolly though

The Drennan looks good, but the 2 rod quiver is out of stock everywhere I've looked anyway. Two full sleeves plus the quiver is going to cost nearly £80 as well and I aren't sure those reel pockets are big enough for 6000's, I couldn't get them in their 2 rod hardcase holdall without forcing them, which was far from ideal.

Just fed up of buying stuff and either having to sell on at a loss or the hassle of having to return.
 
i just use the rod tip and but protectors that slide on and fix with velcro, I had the ones like you got and there a pain in the ass.

Yes but the 4000's are much smaller than the 6000's I think.

Here's pic of the Drennan quiver with sleeves, and one of the sleeves itself, just does not look the most accommodating for reels of any size...





This was my 6000's trying to fit in the two rod hardcase 😅



Looks OK opened up, but trying to zip it up was just too tight!!
 
Here's what i use Rob, they were £19 when i bought mine I've got 2, they have 4 rod pockets, but i only use 3 ... 2 rods and my landing net handle. One large open pocket which accomodates a large brolly. one short and one long outer pocket to store bank sticks etc, they're between about £21 and £25 now, but they're very robustly made and hard wearing, handles are stitched and riveted. Excellent bit of kit in my opinion.

I have the aqua quiver, they also do a 4,5 and 6 rod version. I have the roving quiver, which is great imo. I also have a 5 rod version that, I use for my Trent gear, I generally fit in 2 rods and a sold rod sometimes. There is also a good space for your brolly too. I ha e used the lightweight sleeves, they offer limited protection only. I have the padded ones too, which is the one I prefer.
If you want a quiver that does it all, get the 4 or 5 rod version, which allows more space when needed, for little difference in weight.
 
Thanks @Ian Grant but I am looking for something that encases the rods at least somewhat. I have the Gardner open quiver for my two cheaper 11 foot rods and these already have some bash marks on the blanks after only a few days of use, but they're £60 rods. I'm trying to look after the Free Spirits a little more than those 👍
