Perhaps now is a good time to ask....

Seeing as you never catch owt why bother with the extra weight of taking a net with you.:D

Anything I catch would go straight through the bottom of those.

As a serious photojournalist, maintaining the high standards that the British Press are renown for I go wherever the peoples interests are best served:cool:.

Try the "Insight Wanderer" spoon net from Leslie's of Luton. Match it with the Drennan Specimen pole (extending version). And carry the net around in a Maver stink bag.

Problem solved and all for less than £100!

Cheers,

Steve

I can't believe it, a bloke offers us the benfit of his professional work for free and it get's deleted. Ah well at least I saw it, one of the benefits of being vigilant ;-)

Assuming that you want it for barbus barbus, I've just bough a Nash Dean Macey net and extending carbon pole from Climax Tackle at a knock-down price. Nice strong extending pole with no silly locking mechanisms and a large spoon head (30''+) with a deepish soft mesh. Won't suit everyone but I'm impressed with the combo. Folk do knock Nash tackle but this seems fine to me.

Anyone else noticed that extendable handles freeze solid in current conditions. Solutions (that don't involve heating them up) appreciated. I was thinking of trying smearing a little glycerin on the shaft but don't want to 'goo up' my mechanism.

I've just reread the last sentence and appreciate the innuendo but can't be bothered to rephrase.

Mike, if I didn't know you better I'd have sworn that was a wind-up..........:D

Mike you're so right to ask this. Last time I went I had to walk back to the van with a 10 foot extended Drennan specialist handle which had frozen solid. I had to ask a passing pedestrian to help me with it when I got back to the van. We pulled and pulled and eventually it came off...............oh er missus.

Mike,

Yep, none to clever them extending jobs, thought i'd learnt the first time with the fox big fish stalker, but then went and got the drennan one. They cause nothing but problems and i've never found a solution. Embarrasing walking back to the car with an extended pole, so to speak. I'll be looking for something else next time.:)
