Pallatrax hooks

Are the pallatrax hooks Barbed or Barbless ?
Can anyone give me review of these hooks ?
I presently use Drennan specialist Barbel ,but would like to try a different hook .

They stopped doing a barbed version and now concentrate on their take on barbless which are the Gripz hooks.

The old barbed 'the hook' were excellent but you cant get these anymore.

Gardner talon tips come in both barbed and barbless and are very similar to the pallatrax, again they are highly recommended.

I've been using the gripz hooks this season on the middle Thames. Had a 7lb followed by a 12lb 2oz yesterday. So far no problems with hook pulls. Removing the hook in the net was quick and easy which for me is the main point as I really don't like the way that even micro-barbs can get so tightly lodged in a Barbels rubbery lips

I used the gripz hooks exclusively last season,in sizes 16 to 4. And never lost a fish,my river doesn’t produce great numbers of fish, but I feel confident in using them.
When the barbel weed themselves up,I have even slowly slackened the line by lowering the rod,and the fish swim out.Not even lost one doing that.

Agree with all, pallatrax hooks are fantastic. I managed to buy a stock of 'the hook' before end of life and it is super. I also use Drennan super specialist, which IMO is just as good, super sharp and very strong.

Fished yesterday using just Gripz
Bumped 2 or 3 which isn’t unusual but landed 20+ And they kept their point and everyone came out easily by hand( no forceps) so much kinder for the fish

I now have stock of Pallatrax Gripz in sizes 6 - 16. I've just put them in the shop here:
