OMC magic twig

I agree . but everything deserves a chance. People don't frown on folk in bivvies on the wiers of the trent for days on end catching the same fish day in day out do they thinking they are something special playing hook a duck that's were barbel fishing ended for me I am afraid.

Let’s cut em a little slack here….. we know for a fact that 90% of barbel anglers don’t need to strike using a hair rig so what’s the difference really in evolving a carp rig to do even better what we all do here already.

Carp or barbel anglers habits are never going to change, we depend fully on the rig doing the first part of the work for us so they’ve evolved it a bit to do it better in the same way they’ve evolved lots of things that we use aswell.

Now I’m not going to rush out and buy one myself as I like simplicity and don’t see it as something that will help me out but I do say good luck to em. The carp world moving forward toes the barbel world slowly behind it.

Think about it carefully when your on a 24h session tucked in your bivvy with your rods on a buzz bar armed up alarms.
Boilies
on carp hooks, hair rigged with coated braid.
Some of you might want to save some time and run a deeper down the swim.

See where I’m going…..
Feels like your conflating criticism of this gadget with a dig against modern carp fishing? Maybe I've read that wrong.

I fish for carp using all of the above but of tackle you mention. I'd like to think I'm pretty open minded about angling innovation etc. Would I use this device? Probably not as it looks like it could be a snag magnet and if it's as effective as claimed then I'd consider it as putting the odds too much in my favour. But tbh, my main source of irritation is the hyperbole, and the sight of a grown man in tears over an item of fishing tackle!

Yes I admit I dislike anything in Angling that is at odds with the environment, such as bivvys alarms bait boats three rod set ups two rod set ups and just about anything that someone like Chris Yates would not use.
For me Angling is a simple pursuit where you pit your skill against a worthy opponent that demands the utmost respect and considerations.
Those clips of self hooking carp made me feel ashamed of my pastime.
How anyone can support that gadget; and on here is beyond me.
Nothing wrong with bivvies. Just sometimes the Herbert's that use them.

Multi-rod set up's? Chris Yates often fished two rods at Redmire.

Personally I wouldn't want to fish a very low stock water with just the one rod!

You get my drift. One or two rods not the real issue is it ?

To answer your 2 questions first Joe, no I wouldn’t use it and no I’m not criticizing the modern carp world.

The point I’m making is modern moves forward are nearly always hated until adjusted to then often loved.
The hair rig in barbel fishing is as effective as I’d imagine this is for carp fishing so we’ve already got this device.
Sorry to upset those that believe your using skill to hook barbel but if you use a good hair rig, your not!

Looks snag happy …. Yeah maybe but I haven’t got one or tested one or even looked at one. The outward points could break away very easily for all we know im not too quick to judge but I do admire little engineering things and little steps forward and people having a go.
I’ve got ideas of my own aswel to do stuff and im sure the back seat critics will find fault with them too 🤷🏻

Yes I agree.. crying over a product… pillock! But so what it’s not him the carp anglers are going to remove from the packet and to kick it back because of that just enforces the argument further that the product itself isn’t the real issue people have

Regardless of the product, Marketing has really worked I've seen it now discussed for better or for worse everywhere. Even if people buy it to prove it work or not or out of interest they made there Doe.

All publicity is good publicity in this case for them.

As mentioned before I am a carp angler mainly branching out, with this in mind would I use it ? No. Why because I hate change so haven't really given it a chance.

I'll be honest me personally I have taken more out of different technics used to catch other species back to carp fishing and upped my catch rate, and vice versa from carp to tench on smaller carp tactics.

I am not of my personal opinion that nothing beats a vast locker of tactics for a fast amount of situations, my locker is much fuller these days. I do not believe any one product can give you 100 percent success in all situations as underwater landscapes are all different. Land the magic twig in a shopping trolly on my local park lake you are not catching lol. But stick it on a winter pit on a bar in winter yes you may catch more.

Also for I want to learn lots ! I enjoy that part of my fishing therefor prob a minority where I would rather not buy something that would improve so much it took the fun out of water craft rig tinkering etc.

I love the fact people on here like Rich the other day shared something free to us all, an adaption to a rig he has worked out as improvement if put in the right place at the right time.

PS not ether way still just not that fussed about it as I have a different out look on my fishing these days... I am fishing with an older gent and we go where ether for what ever and laugh to our bellys hurt. That wont last for ever and I know that so therefor it's all about the fun and adventure and memories made. I might get him one he will have a fit and be comical,

Have a good one all :)

I agree with your point about modern moves Richard, and I am more than happy to use this device if I am catching fish for meal, that been said, when fish safety is not my concerned, all I need to do is to CATCH the fish. But I am totally against it if I am fishing, to me, this thing takes the fun of fishing away.

According to EA (Gov.UK) Byelaws for the Thames Water area “You must not use any device that is designed to hook a fish automatically.” Would be worth checking your own area Byelaws if you intend using this gadget. Perhaps Ali should have looked into this before investing and going to market.

I like Ali Hamidi actually, so what if he get's emotional - it's just a reflection of the journey he's made to this point.

Ok well I’m not gonna really go into this anymore as it is what it is.

I just hope that anyone making assumptions on things like this has the backbone and the brass to go buy and try one first or the opinion isn’t worth a toss.

I do wish Ali good luck👍🏻…… and man up ffs🤣
Well that's a shame we were hoping you might give it a few tweaks Rich. ;)
However I can't see the thing being acceptable on any venues, and as stated it probably is illegal anyway.

Yer get you on that, I was just saying it be one of those things where it’s horses for courses. I meet her agree or disagree with it at this point I’m just happy free lining bread straight though to size 6 for chub. Purist in me 🤣

Ow and catching a pike on a method feeder with 7lb hook link today 😂 not by default I may add but a new one for me.
Dan. You might be onto something, minced fish guts, in a mix, on the method feeder! (joking here by the way) You can the claim to be a pioneer in specialist angling circles 😂😂😂😂

Everything evolves Neil ..dick walker was using a penny and a biscuit tin …… then he invented the bite alarm then sundridge came along and made it better then delkim came along and made it better then others came along and you can now set it up on your smartphone….. or in yous and Chris Yates case two bean tins attached by a piece of string 😁😁😉
