Hi all I’m after a decent pair of rods looking at these 3 after looking through reviews? Anyone used any of them or seen all of them what’s ppls views on them? Want them for Trent fishing mainly middle Trent please? Thanks

Yeah seeing a lot of love for the c3s deffo up there on my list and see a lot of love for the basis just the guides aren’t great on them from off the shelf.

Basia is the one, I have both c3 and basia 2.25, blank wise, basia is way better. I personally don’t feel the guides is a problem even some people think the guides on basia are not good enough.

Why would you pick the basias over the c3 mate please what’s the pros and cons between the two as I’ve been looking at these two mainly?

They're nice and slim, look nice. The playing action is forgiving rather than tippy. You never feel out of control. I wouldn't say they are out and out casting jobbies, but will get you a good distance. My 2.75s feel slightly less in the test curve to me, that's why I probably use them a lot. They're just "nice" Difficult to explain.

The tip ring isn't anti frap, but I've never had a problem with it. Would be nice if they were, but it wasn't a deal breaker for me. Not a difficult job to swap, but as a top of the range rod, you'd think Daiwa would have put anti fraps on them. There're on the Infinity's, so why not the Basia ??

I took a long while to decide which 2.75s I wanted, and after a lot of discussion on here and elsewhere, I plumped for the Basia's. I'm not disappointed.

Thanks for reply mate and going into them in detail. Yeah it’s odd they’ve not put them on the top rods but have others but like you say it’s not a big job to change it.
What are they like compared to the 2.25 have you seen both?

I have the Dark Carbon's from Mark Tunley Niall so can only say good things about these. I have Harrisons for carping so am sure the Chimera's would be great as well. Whether they're £100 better than the DC's I can't say but I know Basia's are also good as did look at those but stocks were low at my time of purchasing and I sort of fancied a custom build from Mark.
It really depends on the type of fishing in terms of TC and action. Let people know that and am sure they'll give their opinions.

Thanks for reply mate. So would you have gone basia if they were in stock over the others at the time?
I’ll be after barbel fishing mainly middle Trent from say Shardlow to Fiskerton etc but maybe odd trip to tidal Trent collingham etc chucking leads and feeders. I’ve got a set of 1.75 century armalites for light fishing smaller rivers etc not long got them though used them once only chucking 2oz leads so not sure what their capable off yet but think they maybe too light for the Trent at times.

Basia has a slim and lighter blank compared to C3; the action is super, forgiving, but not floppy. I also like the handle and the reel seat, which look really lovely, but that is very personal. Casting very well, I used it with 2oz to 5oz leads, and never had a problem.

Thanks mate yeah must say they look really nice rods! You think you could chuck 6s with them as well no problem? As you can with c3 can’t you?

I bought them during Covid so couldn’t get to see any, not that anywhere nearby had them. Went off what was said on here and the fact that there were Daiwa’s top barbel rod. Took a gamble, but it paid off. Probably get what I paid for them, or close to it if I was to sell now.

I’ve fished the middle Trent when there’s been a bit on, and they’d get 8oz and a mesh bag of pellets to the middle ok. Probably further if I’d tried.
