Muck Boots

The different boots can seem difficult to distinguise between as the descriptions seem identical. From my understanding the derwent and the avon are the same boot the only difference being an extra insulating layer in the avons. The other design has tay, tay sport and spey. The tay is the same as the spey except for the rubber part comes higher up the tay and the spey are camo. The tay sport is the same but has the addition of a fleece lining for extra cold weather. My preference is the avon as i find them more comfortable than any of the others. Never had any problem with grip as both designs are excellent. No matter how good the grip clambering about on wet river banks always needs to be done with care.

Always check your winter boots before you wear them for first time. Good job I did as Turantula lurking in mine today....

Been wearing my new Tay Sports today for 8 hours on the bank and its been quite a pleasant day compared to the last few. My feet haven't been cold, nor have they been toastie, which is how I like them:D, only had a normal pair of socks on so maybe some thermal socks with them could be the icing on the cake ;)

Cheers

Hi Mark,
Had a look at the web site you suggested, but see they don't list the Tay Sport:(,which is the model that most buyers go for.

I have the Avons and the Tay Sports and find that both are excellent. I tend to wear the Avon's on hot days and the Tay Sports the rest of the time. I find them so comfortable that I can't really say which of the two are better.

Money well spent in my opinion.

I'v found the standard Tay warm enough for my liking Peter, I use mine for shooting in the winter months and can spend all day walking so the sports may be too warm.
