Mono suggestions please

Hi,

Having trouble sticking on a decent 8lb mono. Could some of you lads suggest some brands you swear by?

Hi Vincent,

Depends what you want it to do mate. Take a look at the 'Tackle Box' line comparison chart (Google it) That will point the way to decent BS for a given line diameter (You will notice on the chart that they are virtually all VASTLY under rated on the label...the average line with a claimed BS of 8lb will actually break at nearer 12lbs, or even more )

At the end of the day, for good all round relability, my personal preference is for the golden oldies, such as Fox soft steel, Gold label 'pro gold', Gardner GR80, or Maxima.

However, some of the newer lines are probably just as good, possibly better...some of the newer anglers will no doubt tell you about them

If you decide to go for the even newer Fluorocarbons, for their claimed 'low viz' properties, be very careful of the lower diameters/BS's...some tend to be very brittle.

I agree with Mick, Been using Berkeley Big Game Clear for a few years now and it’s never let me down either !
I also get mine from Ebay – you cant go wrong with this line
