Marco Cortesi

want to try my new reel but my wheels might not get me there with the heavy snow:mad:

So what line has everyone put on there new reels?

Ive got 4lb Shimano beastmaster as that came free with a mag a few years ago , i thought i'd give it a try!

Keith - I bought one of the Waterline Ikonix reels in the summer. They're exactly the same, I believe, but the Ikonix is copper-coloured.

I bet the Okuma marketing boys just hate these threads...... :)

Thanks Richard, yeah I spotted that straight away. I borrowed a friend's Ikonix a few months ago and was dead impressed, I'm pretty sure this will be exactly the same spec.

Hopefully it will arrive in time for me to give it a trundle down the Loddon over Xmas! :)

Just bought one....my first ever centrepin !!!! (Well since the wooden one I had on my first rod about 50 years ago !!!!!)
Very excited!!!
Thaks for the heads up Sam!

recieved mine today

first impression ..... very very good , got just over 2 mins on the spin test , this would be even longer if it was balanced better , but for £36 delivered i aint complaining , the plan is only to ledger with it anyway

anybody thinking about getting one of these reels , take the plunge !

My Wife has ordered one of these reels for me last thursday for christmas. Not recieved it yet, but been a postie i have seen how parcels have backed up a little in our office, and at other office's it will be similar i guess. Last week someone had posted on here that they were out of stock, and i was gutted as i have wanted a pin for so long now, but could never justify spending £100+ for a decent one!! I think the wife was a little upset as she wanted to surprise me when she saw they were back in stock. Never mind, cant wait to fish with it!!

mine does not spin for 2 mins but seems very good for the money i will be happy as long as it does the job here it is next to my Alvey :)

i read somewhere, a few are not as well lubricated so a bit of oil and it should improve. i think it was in the fishingmagic reveiw of it

it does spin but only for around 30 to 40 seconds i tried sewing machine oil and abu oil but the abu is only slightly better.

I don't think it really matters how long it spins for, the main thing is that the spool is free running enough to allow line to peel off in a strong enough current when trotting a float.

Sam

anything over 15-20 sec's is overrun ! because thats how long it takes too make the average cast !

bear in mind these reels are mass produced ,with little quality control ,so the "friday factor " takes effect ,therein reels made monday too thursday are relativly ok but reels made on fridays arn't .because instead of watching what they're doing ,the workers are watching the clock ! ,and we end up with ill fitted bearings ,and generally poorely assembled reels .

Checked mine in a local tackle shop last week and it spun for over 2mins 30seconds, for the money i cant belive how good they are.

That will be why one I've got spins for 2 mins and the other for only 40 seconds. The latter will be my ledgering barbel reel .

Duncan.

im no pin expert , but surely the easier the drum spins the better ? This would mean less weight would b needed to start and keep it running ?

I have the same as Duncan 40 sec x1 and 2 min+ on the other.

Ordered mine on Monday...received it today (Wednesday) can't fault the service...and the reel looks pretty damn cool too !!!
Spins for about 90 seconds on first attempt....not sure what this means , but cant wait to use it (probably for ledgering to start with !!!!)....just looking forward to the ratchet singing in anger!!!!!!!
One happy bunny !
:):):):):)

My two turned up today as well. First impressions are good, a heathly spin time even though the reels had probably been in a freezing van most of the day.

Theres a bit more wobble than on the Aerial but if the reel was spinning that quick in a fishing situation I wouldn`t be thinking about the reels performance!

Love `em!
