Long Rod rest

Hi

Can anyone recommend a good quality, long rod rest which enables you to keep the tip high but that is also light and easily transported?

The tripod type look robust but they look a bit bulky for a mobile angling approach.

thanks

Richard

Richard....not sure if you've ever come across Dinmores Power Drive bank sticks but they are in my opinion a. pretty much indistructible b. screw into virtualy all bank types (frozen/rocky/between paved slabs etc...) c. nice and light. Great value too.
Hope this helps

Fox storm sticks................. extends to nearly ten feet.

Yep...nice bank stick but dont think they screw in though but may I may be wrong.
Was just looking at your blog Tom –*not had a chance to read but at first glance it looks as though you fish some lovely stretches of river

Dunno if you can still get them, I use the Gardner Twistik which extend out to 7 feet. They also screw into anything and are bomb proof.

yep second that, gardner bomb proof, about 12 quid for the largest one,on another note the tripods arent really that heavy, I have the trafford angling one very robust and light ,no messing about spooking fish trying to get a bank stick in.

I bought a 48inch fox storm pole the other day which includes a push in Tommie bar and the end has spiral on cost about £13.

Watch the Fox power storm poles, the screw is only a press fit and has nothing holding it in place, seen a few screws come adrift from the poles, i have drilled and put small self tapping screws to hold mine in place.
@ £13 a pop you would have thought they would have made em a bit better:rolleyes:

Here's a thought.....Why not go to a tackle shop, have a look at a few, extend them out to check the length, compare the weight, then, when you find one you like, give the person behind the counter some money and take your purchase fishing.
If you have made a good decision you can then write a review of it, post it on here and accept the plaudits of your peers.

What do you recommended Adrian?

My storm sticks have cam locks Jason............... not seen any with screw locks

richard , do you take a seat with you ?

if you do , get yourself the fox feeder arm long version

i have a chub hi lite chair and the feeder arm folds perfectley inbetwen the front legs , saves the need for any bankstick ;)
