Leeda icon tripod

Hey everyone, hope all is well and everyone is safe. Has anyone used the the leeda icon tripod, are they any good? I've have been looking at he korum ones, but the plastic fittings have put me off, also I have looked at the Shakespeare salt tripod. Soooooo could anyone give some advice on a decent tripod please. Many thanks in advance.👍🏻

I’m interested too. I have an old Trafford Angling tripod that’s on it’s last legs...

Hi Chris, I got the Shakespeare salt about 18 months ago, more expensive than others, but very impressed, very light and easy to carry in its own holdall, quick and easy to set up, and very stable due to the 2 extra arms.

Shakespeare Salt, the head bends very easily, its heavy, cumbersome, takes up a lot of room and is a horrible electric blue colour.
I have a friend who had one, he complained every time he used it. Its primally aimed st sea Anglers.

Not much knowledge of any others, quite a few years ago I bought a Parker Tripod, which seems much lighter than most, adapted it to my own needs by widening the head and butt bars and its been very good.

I've just ordered the Prologic Twin Sky 2-Rod Pod.
Obviously I have not used it yet, but I found a thread somewhere on the net where it appeared to be well liked.
Time will tell with this one I guess. It does appear to be a decent bit of kit though.

I've bought the 3-Rod version to use on the Trent, not used it yet but very impressed with it, looks very versatile, solid, sturdy bit of kit!👍

I’ve had the Korum compact river tri pod a good while now and you have nothing to worry about. To break them you need to really abuse them.
Your not jamming these things hard into the ground. A light push and they are solid.
The locking mechanisms on the legs don’t see any strain.
They are very popular and if there was quality concerns we’d certainly hear more about them.

For many years the Trafford Angling tripod made by Parkers was one of the best river tripods out there, very light, very sturdy and compact enough to be transported in a quiver. I bought one after reading Dr Davies's review on here. I've got one I'll be putting on the classified here, once I get round to it🙂

Can't see how David can comment on it when he's never owned one, and is just going on hearsay, ive had no problems with the head on mine, its very light, not cumbersome at all, and fits in a quiver with ease. So far, yes, i have only used it for sea fishing, but would put it ahead of a Trafford Angling tripod i have, and they were supposed to be quite good.

P.S. I'm a toffee, so the blue isn't a problem. :) 👍

Still rate the Shakespeare salt , make your own flat top bar for barbel river fishing, to attach alarms or rod rests , got another one recently that I noticed has a better spike on the main bar . After road testing for numerous years both for sea and course fishing , well made and will last much longer than many flimsy ones .

Hi Andy, i have one laying dormant in the shed if you want it, bought from a member on here a while back, good as new, but only used a couple of times, you cover the postage costs, or arrange a courier to pick it up, and its yours. 👍

Blimey Derek - that's really kind! Thanks ever so much :)
