Lack of focus in fishing.

Have you thought about using a float tube or Kayak Mark?
Lots of virtually virgin water on the Thames inaccessible from any bank.
E.g. Teddington weir down to Ham common.

Like others I have taken to fly fishing which is so simple with no preparation and very little gear to carry, also you tend to know there are actually some fish to catch! But I have always chub fished in winter, even in preference to barbel fishing when there were a lot more barbel about.
