Korum 2 rod Quiver. Rubbish Buy

Graham Elliott

Senior Member & Supporter
Well I made a mistake.

A year or so ago I bought a Korum Brolly for £55 that lasted for a puff of wind before the centre spokes gave way (cheap aluminium stuff)

I swore I would never buy Korum stuff again.

Well I forgot that promise to myself and bought of Ebay the 2 rod Quiver............................

It's so short in length that when you put it on your shoulder the centre of gravity for the strap means it swings the top downwards and pulls it pretty much straight behind or in front of you rather than upright.

Where the hell are all those highly paid consultants that are meant to check this stuff out before Joe Public buys the rubbish. Do they spend all their time fishing and not testing the wares the company sells?? It's a basic mistake.

Are there any of those consultants on this site that want to even try and defend the company??

Anyone else think the same or are my complaints misjudged.??

Graham

Hi men ,

Makes you wonder dont it Graham . In the 80,s when I was carping I felt like I was feild testing most of the stuff that hit the market !.

Graham....you are exactly right.I have given up using the shoulder strap now and simply carry mine by the handle. The balance there is spot on.
It's a shame because it is a well built bit of kit.Just not designed well enough.
Is there a better two rod quiver/sling about??I've got a 12" Drennan two rod padded thing that has pockets on it but it isn't great with 11" foot rods and not great to carry which doesn't help really.

Rich.

Graham, a new opening for you, perhaps?

You are right though. I think what happens is a lot of info gets confused when it goes from the designer to the Asian sweat shop?

A rather crudely presented bait that G.

Not sure you'll be bagging up on this one:p:p:p

Steve;)

Try the Chub 2 rod quiver, got 1 off flea bay last year and very pleased with it. It can be a bit snug on the butts with rod protectors. I carry two rods, net in the side pouch and it has a decent sized bits pocket on it as well, I stuff a poncho in there. It is well balanced and comfortable on a hike with a decent strap and handle.
Graham, I looked at the Korum and was put off by the shortness of it.

Possibly not but I do wonder if you are being a little harsh on Korum. Some of their kit is pretty good. Can't say I blame you for writing their stuff off but I suspect that if I did the same to every tackle company that I'd had a duff product (design or quality/longevity) from I'd be struggling to find enough gear to go fishing. All the manufacturers are capable of dropping a plum or two. The chances only increase as they get bigger and their ranges more diverse.

Chris. I don't accept that.

Surely one would expect someone who goes fishing from the company to actually try it out first.

I suspect an accountant decided that by making it shorter it would save XX in purchasing costs. My point is.................why bother to have fishing consultants if they are not doing the basic tests.

Steve, really not for any personal reasons. Just B annoyed at wasted money again.

Who designed, who tested etc. Anyone know.

Graham

As I said, I can't knock that but it doesn't automatically follow that every Korum product is to be avoided.;)

Hi All,

I don't have a problem with the quiver, but then I don't hang it off my shoulder I hang it across my chest.

It is strong enough to hang bait buckets, mats, nets and even wet brollys from the handles and strap brackets.

I can easily walk a mile or so, up and down dale fully laden with the quiver balanced just right.

Korum 2 rod quiver

Not had an issue using mine in that sense, though I would says its about 25 - 30% too small, to realistically hold 2 rods, bank sticks, landing net pole, landing net and brollie. Mostly now use it for winter chubbing, when carrying 1 rod and no brollie. The Drennan Super Specialist is a better bet and had one for 6 years now. No frills and it does the job fine.

Korum products which I do like are the standard bait and bits bag, and the ruckbag, which is a top bit of kit.

The only issue I have with the quiver is with my reel handles (shimano), I manage to get all of my other kit in.

I have the ruckbag but seldom use it unless I am taking clothes - as it needs a smaller brother.

My quiver works great and like Dave I can walk comfortably with it balanced across my chest.
I like the ruckbag and chairs aswell.

I can't knock the Korum two rod total protection quiver and don't have a balance issue with it. It's generally what I use when barbelling or a long trek is involved.

As for proper quivers I can't recommend the Greys Platinum Quiver highly enough. Certainly in a different price league to the Korum but a whole heap more versatile than most quivers. http://www.britnett-carver.co.uk/ericsangling/prods/2833.html
I hate leaving rods/reels all but totally exposed in proper quiver format but the facility is there if you choose to use it. It's what I take out to play if I'm taking my shelter along as it fits in easily even without being expanded. I'll use it for pretty much every style of fishing apart from when my seatbox comes out to play if I'm tiddler bashing.

Talking of stuff that has never evidently been field tested - what about the old Fox plastic baitdropper where the door falls off after a couple of casts - what an absolute beaut! Love it.

I had 3 rod slings to choose from -

Korum 2 rod
Wychwood 2 rod
chub triple s 3 rod.

I chose the 3 rod chub triple s, and that is an excellant piece of kit.
I thought with it only having room for 3 rods and no external pockets I would struggle, but it holds my 2 barbel rods, my landing net pole and net and an umbrella, and 2 bank sticks in the third rod slot.

Actually Stuart. talking of feeders as well as droppers....and sorry.......the Fox large open end feeder was a beauty. The weight came away out of the sliding holes every few casts............

I guess I was the only one who had this happen though????

Hi Graham,

I have the Korum 2 rod holdall (Takes 2 rods made up, 3 broken down, brolley, bank sticks etc.) This is designed to carry 3 piece rods & reels set- ups, so is also very short. It also has the same ballance issue.

However, I am not sure whether it is a design problem...it may well be that how you and I expect it to hang is NOT the way it is designed to hang. You will notice that several members have said that they carry these bags across their chest, and are happy with that. Many midlands match anglers (and later most match anglers from all areas) have been carrying their rods that way for a very long time...and Korum did start off in that field....

I have a number of Korum products, as do many of my friends, and I really can't fault them nor heard complaints from others, be it in the concept, design, workmanship or materials, so I have to guess that on ballance (excuse the pun) these bags are probably meant to hang that way :p

Hardly scientific research I admit, but personal experience and hearsay lead me to believe that they are one of the better brands out there...and no, I don't work for them :D

Cheers, Dave.
