If you....

It does indeed. However, the double legged intermediates also suggest that it's a pre-Team 2000 Normark. If that is the case, it was unlikely to have been much of an investment anyway. I'd be sending it back to the seller if I were you. I'd be thankful that the seller failing to mention any tip damage as being a damned good reason to do so.
The seller offers 10 gbp discount, I am still thinking…

He’s taking the piss. It’s a broken rod that was advertised as complete. He wouldn’t offer you a tenna if he didn’t know it was broken already he would be arguing it
He first said he measured the rod and it is full length, after I showed him all the evidence, he admitted it is a broken rod and he had no knowledge about it. I think I need to push him a bit now.

I think you need a full refund. And an apology for flogging you a pup.

Damn, Julian, these are two rods I want badly.

The 12’6 Barbel specialists are one of Drennans all time classics IMO…capable of chucking the largest of feeders and still retains a lovely playing action with plenty of reserves in the butt

Thanks Terry, it’s a classic rod but not the one I am after. I decided not to buy any barbel rod after I bought both torrix and barbel seeker.

I’d struggle to believe that entirely given the bodies are near on identical the parts inside will be made to fit and I’d say they will share afew. The different shimano reel models all did the same.
Threw in a couple more bearings, changed the gear ratio and called it a GT
Hi Richard, bit late to this thread.

Regarding the SS and GS 1000, I have both and they are two different beasts. The GS comes in at 454gms and the SS at 391gms. I'd say Terry is correct in saying the GS is the forerunner, and Huanzhou is correct in saying that the internals are not interchangeable. The body on the GS is 5 mm higher and 3 mm longer than the SS. AS seen in pics below, there are differences in the spindles, spools and the on/off lever at the back.

If you still want to take a look at the GS and pull it apart Richard, then let me know.

Mick

Hi all - sorry to highjack this thread but does anyone know about the ‘super sport’ version of the SS850? Trying to find out if it’s as good as the standard version.

Thanks

could only to save one fishing rod that a fire was about to engulf your entire tackle collection😭 what would you choose?
Mine would be the old Drennan Tench .
Not only is it a beautiful rod it would cover a wide variety of species to fish for.

The Drennan Tench rod keeps being mentioned in here, can someone post a photo and clarify the year etc?
