That's cool. Great reels.I didn’t expect the reel comes with the bag and manual, these old manual is much better than new one, comes with full maintenance instructions.

If the seller will cover the shipping cost, I think I will return it. I don’t mind to keep it and use it myself, it’s a good rod anyway. It does indeed. However, the double legged intermediates also suggest that it's a pre-Team 2000 Normark. If that is the case, it was unlikely to have been much of an investment anyway. I'd be sending it back to the seller if I were you. I'd be thankful that the seller failing to mention any tip damage as being a damned good reason to do so.
Thanks Richard, it does have scratches at the rear bottom of the reel, but still a nice one. Best 90 I spent this year. Will give it a service over the weekend. What kind oil do you recommend? Thanks. That is an exceptional example.
I thought mine were rare condition but that looks brand new out the box Result
The spliceis about 4 ft to tip, and being glass it is let's say quite forgiving. Thanks for the pictures. That’s the rod I saw, looks like a really lovely one. What’s the action like? The line rating is 1lb higher than the Avon right?
4ft? That’s almost the length of the top section, interesting build. The spliceis about 4 ft to tip, and being glass it is let's say quite forgiving.
The only thing on these I would oil would be the underside of the line roller and the head bearing if you are confident enough to take that outThanks Richard, it does have scratches at the rear bottom of the reel, but still a nice one. Never seen anything like it, I wonder what the thinking was?4ft? That’s almost the length of the top section, interesting build.
Gotta be action surely Neil. The longer the tip and the further into the blank it is spliced the less you will feel or see that hinge point when playing a fish. It’s been well thought about obviously and going to be very nice to useNever seen anything like it, I wonder what the thinking was?
I believe hair clipper oil is just mineral oil, I use it on my clippers and I wouldn't be surprised if the oil Abu supply with their reels is the same stuff!I use hair clipper oil for the little oil jobs. It’s perfect in viscosity
Posh*I believe hair clipper oil is just mineral oil, I use it on my clippers and I wouldn't be surprised if the oil Abu supply with their reels is the same stuff!
I also use it to seal my chopping board.
Actually its a tad under 5ft, even longer. Been catching some good WA Chub recently will give the rod an outing later, it deserves it after all these years.4ft? That’s almost the length of the top section, interesting build.
I knew a guy once (quite a well known carp angler) who used to use fishing as a decoy for 'mischief'. Shame, as his ex-wife was a really nice lady. They’re not that daft
Obliged to have a peck at us to assert control but they’d much rather have us buy something that keeps us out of mischief ( more or less) than spend it in the pub or at the bookies
That’s what I tell myself but married 31 years and was an angler way before I was a husband
2md hand good kit is an investment, shoes and curtains aren’t in my book but life’s a compromise
Damn, Julian, these are two rods I want badly. My Mick Holgate Chub Specialist rod...
What a great little post!
But could easily see me standing there looking at the Drennan medium combo 11ft 12'6 rods and thinking what about you guys, I've had my best ever fishing trips with these beauties, lovely feeder rods!
