If you....

It does indeed. However, the double legged intermediates also suggest that it's a pre-Team 2000 Normark. If that is the case, it was unlikely to have been much of an investment anyway. I'd be sending it back to the seller if I were you. I'd be thankful that the seller failing to mention any tip damage as being a damned good reason to do so.
If the seller will cover the shipping cost, I think I will return it. I don’t mind to keep it and use it myself, it’s a good rod anyway.

That is an exceptional example.
I thought mine were rare condition but that looks brand new out the box Result
Thanks Richard, it does have scratches at the rear bottom of the reel, but still a nice one. Best 90 I spent this year. Will give it a service over the weekend. What kind oil do you recommend? Thanks.

The only thing on these I would oil would be the underside of the line roller and the head bearing if you are confident enough to take that out
Other wise a medium consistency lithium grease is what I would apply every where else
The 2 bearings on the main shaft are open on one side so they accept grease worked into the race perfectly

They are a bit odd these in the respect that the shaft has to come out first before the rotor can come off and the covers off the sides.
Just take your time and you’ll see they are simple and designed in a way to service easily.
Some of the key design points in how and why it’s put together like it is knocks the spots off a lot of these modern reels.

Never seen anything like it, I wonder what the thinking was?
Gotta be action surely Neil. The longer the tip and the further into the blank it is spliced the less you will feel or see that hinge point when playing a fish. It’s been well thought about obviously and going to be very nice to use

If it isn't an effort to produce the best possible action transition between the tip and main part of the rod, then who knows? There's not really another valid reason I can think of for doing it like that.

Yes it does firm a nice arc under strain, has to be the reason, quite unique. But JW did like a long quiver, his video instruction on turning a broken match rod into a quiver rod was memorable, perhaps you might want to check it out Han...?
😁

I use hair clipper oil for the little oil jobs. It’s perfect in viscosity
I believe hair clipper oil is just mineral oil, I use it on my clippers and I wouldn't be surprised if the oil Abu supply with their reels is the same stuff!

I also use it to seal my chopping board.

My Mick Holgate Chub Specialist rod...
What a great little post!

But could easily see me standing there looking at the Drennan medium combo 11ft 12'6 rods and thinking what about you guys, I've had my best ever fishing trips with these beauties, lovely feeder rods!

one of my Drennan 12ft specialists - the original ones. 1.25lb tc with 2lb power curve. Love it. Paired with a RW Rolling Pin it’s so much fun to use.

My rod of choice would be a Hexagraph Ray Walton No.2 Avon (1.25lb tc), as it's just such a versatile rod. I don't do much float fishing and pair the rod with a Garry Mills 'pin for mostly close in fishing. I know I'd catch more were I to fish with other options (which stand/sit unused in my cellar), however I'm just too stubborn.

They’re not that daft
Obliged to have a peck at us to assert control but they’d much rather have us buy something that keeps us out of mischief ( more or less) than spend it in the pub or at the bookies
That’s what I tell myself but married 31 years and was an angler way before I was a husband
2md hand good kit is an investment, shoes and curtains aren’t in my book but life’s a compromise
I knew a guy once (quite a well known carp angler) who used to use fishing as a decoy for 'mischief'. Shame, as his ex-wife was a really nice lady.

Agreed Paul, with quality second hand gear you're not going to lose much money. I buy new rods but generally buy second hand reels.
