I found it !

Hi Barbel fishers
Just for fun ok.
What has been the best bit of tackle you have found on the river bank ?.
Mine was a landing net with pole many years ago.

PB:)

A pair of waders on the Wharfe – think they were purposely left to gain access to an island – didn’t fit me

A 20lb class boat rod– shame the reel with it was a crappy fixed spool.......

Landing net and handle on the Warks Avon

Pair of banksticks with butt grips on the Severn

A courting couple!!!

I've found avon scales, landing nets,a cheap Argos type reel, some no name chair, unhooking mat and a fox bite alarm still attached to a bank stick, lots more as well.

oh yer, dead lines...

More baiting needles than I have lost:)

Should also be a thread for "Lost It". My worse loss was my Sony multiband radio on the banks of the Kennet a few years ago. Wonder who "Found It" :)

Found a nice bankstick with a luminous John Roberts top. Belonged to a mate of mine as he always uses multi coloured tape on the top but it was still nice to find it.

Good thread, for me I reckon Its got to be a pike setup on the river till consisting of a landing net and pole, Abu pike rod, Shakespeare reel and a small box of spinners lol!!

This is pretty grim but.......

I was fishing the Sussex Ouse in the Autumn quite some time back now and arrived at the river just before light. I had a cuppa and set off to a familiar swim that has always been a favourite of mine, partly because it's so tucked away and rarely fished, albeit a bit of a trek to get to.

I put my gear down in said swim and continued another 50 yards downstream to bait a second, fairly obscure spot for later in the day. Before putting in any bait I noticed a red waterproof type piece of jacket 10 yards to my left in the bushes.

On closer inspection it turned out to be the lifeless body of a man in his 20's.

I never did fish that day..........

Only a couple of weeks ago I found a Spomb in the rushes on my local res. I put it to good use tonight on a bit of pre baiting for Tench tomorrow.

After a particularly impressive flood on the Loddon I found a kayak half way up a tree in one of my favourite swims. I eventually managed to return it to its rightful owner who lived in a house with river frontage about a mile upstream.

Crikey, that's pretty traumatic. Were they fishing and did they leave their kit behind ? The trouble with something like that is that it puts you off fishing in that spot for a little while.

About 15 years ago I pulled up into a car park in the middle of some woods next to a large reservoir and found a Bob Church 1 piece suit with the moon boots still in the legs. The owner had obviously just stripped off the night before and driven away. They fitted perfectly :)

I can't help thinking that right at this moment there are a number of very indignant (not to say totally peesed off) people angrily trying to find the addresses of some of the 'lucky people' on this thread :D:D:D

Cheers, Dave.

I seem to be out of step here in every respect. First, I seem to lose stuff and never find anything - but if I were to, I would do my utmost to reunite said lost item with its owner. I lost my beloved Antares landing net head which never turned up and I've never quite got over it. The problem is a lot of this lost kit has sentimental value. Incidentally, if anyone finds my Preston Asaki Specialist barbel rod, do please let me know. I can't quite place where I lost it but it must somewhere around about where you found it. I would happy to provide a modest reward of say £20 for its return. You can keep the reel.

While fishing at Fishers Green a few years ago, believe it or not, I hooked a seymo bait dropper neatly through one of the holes, and I am still using it.
