I've been using the Korum Xpert power hooks in a size 8 with some success however I had one break yesterday when pulling into a decent barbel. It snapped on the bend almost immediately after hooking the fish and I didn't put too much pressure on so I assume it must have been a bad hook.
Since I started using these hooks I have banked over 30 doubles in some snaggy swims and up until now have had confidence in them. They are cheap as chips at £1.25 for a pack of 10 and it makes me think that perhaps quality control is not as it should be.
I don't mind paying 4 quid for specialised carp hooks as long as they do the job and they have more consistent quality, the thing is now I have lost confidence in them as it did break far too easily..........back to the drawing board.
