Good chub rod

This is the rod(s) I use for 95% of my chubbing (and barbel), but then I'm using the 1.75 avon tops and 2 or 3oz leads. ;)

I haven't used the quiver tip section in years. You need more than just the tip to give and I found the 1.5 top section too stiff and missed too many bites.

For quiver-tipping you want the lightest, most flexible rod you can find. If you breathe on it and it bends 90 degrees, that's the one!

I use 1lb t.c Abu Garcia "Red Wolf"s. No longer made (they were £24.99 new :D), quiver like jelly and give maximum bite registration for minimal resistance. I landed a near 13lb barbel on one quite recently in a tight swim, which surprised the hell out of both of us.

This kevlar has got the 0.5 and 0.7 avon tops with a 0.6 quiver I tjink its should be ok.

Here you go Ben,

Preston Carbonactive C Series 11ft Feeder Rod

Seriously good rod for a silly price, all Preston and Drennan tips fit so loads of choice, the only tip rod i own that is better is a Tri-cast 4x4 but thats a different animal altogether !!

I love this rod. It's one of my favourites. At its best chubbing/perching on small rivers but i also love it for tench as long as the range isn't too extreme. It's beautifully finished, and the action makes it an absolute pleasure to play fish on.

I've also got the Drennan avon quiver 1.25tc and Fox Duo-lite avon which are both good rods.

If the circumstances allow though, i choose to use the carbonactive.

Another vote for the drennan series 7 1.25lb avon, top rod for chubbing

For one of the 1.25 series 7's today and have to say its a cracking rod. Fancy getting another in the 1.5 so I can have a pair for tench or bream fishing too.

Regarding the Drennan Series 7 1.25lb TC, see if you can pick up its predecessor the Super Specialist Duo. Build quality wise it's a far better rod and much sort after, although they do occasionally appear on ebay in mint condition.

Jon, sounds perfect, very sought after rods these days !
I use a Fox Specialist Avon Quiver, 0.75tc and more than enough power for chubbing ! Have had barbel to 8lbs on it. Can honestly say that I've only used the Avon top a couple of times though !

Drennan river feeder suits me, won't know what to do if it dies in action!
Seem to catch Barbel easier whilst Chub fishing:rolleyes:
