Flood Rod

I’m looking to get a Flood Rod as when the water is up my 2lb Torrix struggle , any suggestions , I’ve looked at the 13 foot korum 2.5 or away towards a custom job 🧐

For the money, those 13ft Korums are extremely good.
My step dad has a pair and they do everything he needs for the tidal Trent.
His only complaint is the lack of a hook keeper.

13 feet would definitely give you a little edge regarding that extra bit of line out the water and a few extra yards on the cast if these things are important.
My tidal Trent rods are 12feet 2.75 long and they do a perfectly fine job of launching what I need to where I need it but an extra foot can only be seen as a benefit if used in these conditions.

I was told there Harrison Ballista with the blank ground down
They may share some characteristics or be based around other Harrison blanks but MT has the DC range built around his own specifications.
I’ve heard From a few very knowledgeable sources that the old baby balistas, when ringed up properly Make up one of the finest floodwater fishing Rods you can get.
I don’t think you can get them anymore now.

Ballista blanks are still listed and available. Despite their age they are still well thought of and respected as medium range rods (up to 100yds). Made up some ground gloss ballistas for a good mate of mine recently.
Some say that the Acurix has a similar playing action.

Cheers
Bob

I understand that and his rod building is superb . I was only pointing out they were a ballista blank.

I've been using a pair of these Peregrine rods on the Trent, Yorkshire Ouse etc., they have landed me some big barbel in flooded conditions, I stepped up my reels accordingly to match the rod's power.

I have a pair of Freespirit Hi S Specialist Big water 2.25, can anyone tell me how Chimera Snag and Flood 11’6” would compare?
I’ve never handled the chimera but I’ve read it’s a serious power tool with quite a stiffness to it.
Others will be able to comment better.
Now I have handled the 2.25 Hi S and I actually didn’t like it because I found it surprisingly soft, it didn’t feel like a power rod to me for its rating. so based on that I’d dare say they are completely different rods in every way.

There in lies a story Richard! On my first ever Trent trip for a fish-in with The Association of Barbel Fishers quiet a few years back I didn’t have suitable rods so my son lent me a pair for the weekend and I found them superb rods, they “chucked” a lead and PVA bag with no problem and I found them a joy to play fish on. They were rung as carp rods but i’d love to have them remade with sensible sized and spaced guides. They would be my go to rod for heavy work.

Those look lovely , I’m undecided as yet but think it will be a custom, I only want one , I only fish the ribble at the moment .
