Ebay madness

Slightly off topic but (genuine question) how can the Normark rod above be worth £400? What makes a rod that good? :confused:.

Exclusivity and admiring glances from others, that is, if it ever sees a bankside. I suspect that these sort of items are in in effect museum pieces and, for a lot of the time, will never be used in anger. Having said that, unless silly prices are paid, then there is always the potential of getting your money back.
 
I used to do a lot of matchfishing years ago, and i have had about 6 Normark rods in my time and i currently own 2 now and without a shadow of doubt imo they are the finest selection of Match fishing rods ever made. They also do a specialist rod, which is gold dust to some anglers. But going back to Normarks the 2000 range is the rod to go for and The 3000 rod is not of the same quality.

Sorry to labour the point but why? What makes them so great? I still can't find a match/float rod that is everything I want it to be and in fact most of the ones I've currently got all feel and do pretty much the same (despite their wide range in value - Emperors new clothes perhaps...) so I'd like to know what's makes these ones so special. Maybe I just have to try one (you can always lend me yours if you like :p).
 
And I recommend that anyone remotely interested in chub get themselves a copy of Chevin while they are still available!

I had 2 Normark Microlite 11's. They are probably the best match/float rods made, imo. However i cant believe one just went for over 400 quid!! They didnt cost that much when new. I sold one last year for 235 quid and that surprised me! Bob James said they are the best Roach tools to use. I used them for general silverfish but found them to have an amazing through action that was perfect for chub. Although i landed big Roach on these rods i think i would of bumped them off if the hook was not barbed. My biggest roach of 2lb.8oz was caught on a £20 leeda xgt float rod i won on ebay!
