Hi Michael - you can buy cheap DIY kits where removing the spring and replacing bits of the cap components do the job . . .however they can bring mixed / extreme results and you could find subtle differences between a pair of reels which personally I would find annoying / disconcerting. If you speak with Weston / others they can pretty much set the 'range' to your liking (eg. quarter turn / half turn / full turn) from freespool to locked up by using carbon washer combinations etc . . .Thanks Chris, I m getting muddled now. Might buy both lol. When I say QD, I don't mean the conversion caps/kit. Can you take the spring out like on some models?
Personally like the SS2600 (I use a pair for floater / margin float fishing) but would never QD them as they perform as I'm used to and are fished 'in hand'. On this basis would rather use baitrunners for river fishing . . .
