Chub rod

This morning I managed to shut my car boot on the spigot of my 12' 1.5tc Daiwa Theory rod.

Loved this rod, found it perfect for paste fishing for chub.

Having looked on line, it looks as if this rod maybe out of production.

Would really appreciate any recommendations for a suitable replacement.

Richard if you do really like the rod I would spend more time trying to replace the broken part. I had a shimano vengeance barbel rod and managed to break the quiver tip carrier but after emailing a few shops I did manage to get a replacement .
It might even be worth getting in touch with Daiwa . Although its no longer on sale they may still carry spares.
I also broke the quiver tip carrier for a Drennan series 7 Avon / quiver and my local tackle shop managed to get me a new one from Drennan although the rod is no longer on sale.
If you can't find on the new Drennan Twin tip duo's look a nice rod

If you don’t have any luck finding the replacement part but want a like-for-like replacement they seem to pop up a fair bit on eBay (4 in the last month at c£60-70). I have been using the Drennan Twin Tip Duo for 6 months now and really like it.

Hi Richard, although I've not used it yet, I just picked up a 2nd hand Greys X-flite barbel rod 12', it has 3 tip sections, 1.5, 1.75 and a quiver section.

I got it to use as a Thames chub rod as I've been after something for ages so can cover all bases with those tip options for fishing at distance or when there's a bit of water on etc.

It really is a good looking, understated bit of kit and feels like a really good blank, but as I said it's not seen the bank with me, yet.

Maybe an option to consider.

Thanks Nick, funnily enough I did look on ebay last pm. There's a 1.75 on there at the moment which I think is a tad too heavy. If I can't get a replacement event from Daiwa I'll keep looking on ebay

If you can’t get it fixed,I would recommend the Drennan Series 7 Specialist Avon Quiver 1.25lb. An excellent bit of kit with plenty of backbone but a forgiving tip or quiver tips, if preferred.

It’s a 1.25lb rod, no interchangeable tip, but I think you can use swing tip with it.

An all rounder...No such thing you say.

But I don't want it to be. I want it as a feeder rod with a sensitive tip, but not one that I have to insert in a quiver rod with a pretty useless 1 to 3oz tip, that will basically be useless and not suit most Larger river swims from Autumn onwards with a bit of water on. I don't want the stiffness of a quiver section to lock up once the quiver tip bends but to keep going.

More sensitive than a standard Avon tip.

I got one of these a few months ago and have been very pleased so far, I use it for chub/perch fishing on the river and for the price is very impressive. Light, nice progressive action with a bit of power in the butt and importantly quiver tips that is are just the right length to be sensitive but do not impede accurate casting
