Burton Mutual.

Yes, I find it a little awkward from Manchester. Still, it's a lovely stretch.
Only fished Cuttlebrook half a dozen times in the ten years I've had a BMAA card, so it won't make any difference to my thoughts on staying or leaving the club.
Might see you on the Dove next season, Simon.
Did you use your Fight Club ticket much last season Rich?

LOL. ;)

Do you come down the M6 - A50 - Willington - Repton - Milton, Richard ??

Whenever I've been to Milton, I've always come from the Foremark - Ticknall way. Very narrow roads that need maximum concentration late at night.

Cuttlebrook for me is M1 - A50 J3 and I'm there. I just carry on along the A50 for the Dove. Easy driving.
Yes - that's the route I take. Difficult fishing this year, with the constant rain and sodden ground. A couple of times I've been through the gate, only for the camper wheels to start spinning - then a quick reverse out again, and back to the Dove.

I never enjoyed that track at Milton, as you come through the 3rd gate into the scrubby stretch...very close to the river and after a heavy downpour one night I felt the car slide a little...and that was in a 4x4.
Yeah - tricky in the camper sometimes too, Joe, but I wouldn't try it with the conditions we've had so far in 2024.

Can someone come round our house and give me a good talking to and a slap, coz I'm thinking of re-joining Burton Mutual.

Even though I've caught very little from their stretches of both the Dove and the Trent, I find myself being drawn back to both rivers. There is something magical about the Dove. I can't put a finger on it, but I just love being on it's banks. I haven't caught a Barbel on there for a few years now, but I like the intimacy of it. Same with some of their Trent sections. It's alright chucking 8oz on the middle of the lower reaches of the Trent, but it's sometime nice to just underarm a rig in.

Retiring soon, so more time available.

I've been thinking of dropping my ticket next season but Like you say Simon some of the stretches are really nice to sit on especially the Dove. I use to fish cuttle brook quite often but no longer on the ticket.. I like trotting Marston on Dove for grayling But not been up at all this season and now the renewal date is January I really can't make my mind up.. I let my Pride of Derby ticket go this year and thinking of dropping my Newark piscatorials next season to. I'll give it some more thought over Christmas..

I only have a Scunthorpe and Newark ticket at the moment. I detest driving, so with some of the BMAA waters being closer to me, there is less driving to do. The down side - I very rarely catch a Barbel.

I don't do a lot of other fishing, although I did fish Staunton Harold on occasion, but almost always fish for Barbel now.

Anyone know how much next years ticket will be ??

Simon if you meen the price of BMAA £100 or £60 OAP but its due in january..

East Stoke is reported to be fishing quite well for barbel at the moment on the Newark book..I use to have the Scunthorpe book and fished Lady Pit Farm but Barbel fishing has even dropped off there to what it use to be. Most anglers trot for the chub now.
