Brrrrrr......

Well, they got it right for a change! Hardly a flake last week but we got it today! Alternative sport beckons . . . the rods are being rested, the board is coming out to play! :D

Snow and ice useful for
- four reels serviced
- all fluoro mainline stripped and cleaned (wound off and on with damp cloth)
- Fluoro mainline rewound with right amount of backing
- set of fresh rigs
- two bags (each of 12 eggplus sized balls) of midwinter paste made and frozen
- Daiwa Infinity front opening rucksack sewn together with remains of 2 year old Krystonite
- Rods given graphite blast on spigot and allowed to dry
- Light Chub/Perch rod cleaned and its ABU C4x serviced and new 6lb Sensor

Whisky opened to owner of above and all left to rest!

I had a knee Op on the 22nd of November, there was me being selfish and thinking about missing out on some decent fishing before Xmas. Thank god for this blanket of snow and all being well after the first snow fuelled floods it just might be right for me, when i am up and running.
As Darryl says its a great time to give your kit a good sort out, tidy up and get some DIY in before the good weather sets in.
Thanks for the reminder Darryl, i may have to dust off some 20 year old Glenmorangie.
Taking the little'un sledging now

I took my tacklebox apart and pulled everything out, cleaned it all and re arranged it, it looks a lot more organised now, sure it will get dirty and messed up next time i go fishing!

About all its good for if you ask me!:D

Yep - after about ten sessions on the Ouse about 4 years ago I stripped it off the reels and use the remainder as strong sewing thread!
The lightest weed would see the fluoro coating peel and the line deteriorate

Well it had to happen sooner or later, thinking that we would escape the snow was rather wishful thinking, it has finally arrived here at Throop, but i must say, it looks really nice, so it's another day indoors.
Brian.
this was the view from window this morning, the river is just opposite, behind the tree and farm

Global Warming

Take a look at the Llanstephan web cam, the Wye is starting to freeze over (again) that's three winters on the trot it's frozen. What happened to the mild, wet winters predicted as a consequence of Global Warming?

Didn't you know that Global Warming causes the winters that we are experiencing now? If it's a mild winter - it's also Global Warming. You probably weren't aware that Global Warming was responsible for the lottery rollover, the surge in signal crayfish population and the decrease in barbel numbers.

5 degrees now in sunny Yorkshire, think a mini thaw is on the way, before the cold consumes us again on Monday.

Popped into my Rob's tackle on Saturday and the usual how did you get on Sunday? was put to Rob,( he match fishes) and he made me smile with ''nothing not a bite (Wye Hereford)...but the bloke next to me caught a small minnow that was too small for the keepnet, so he put it into a baitbox, with water''.
Come the 'weigh in' he remembered this minnow and as an act of desperation as everyone blanked, he offered it up. Only to find the minnow was entombed in a block of ice!! However the scalesman estimated the weight and the lucky angler he won his section.

I forgot to ask about the minnow:)

Oh yes Rob also said that two double figure barbel were caught on the same day by 'pleasure' anglers, so own up!!!

You know who you are:p

im crossing the severn at ironbridge 3-4 times everyday & think to myself ive got to have a go, but i just cant get the enthusiasm due to the cold, but it looks fabulous, i even saw a barbel hit the surface on friday evening at coalport.

20ft iceberg floating down the Severn through sunny Ironbridge yesterday now that's cold lol.
