boilie reccomendation

Angling writers generally endorse comercially available boilies in articles in the monthlies. Subsequently i have tried these recommendations & experimented with some other products from the bait manufacturers mentioned...Mistral, CC Moores etc, with varying degrees of success.
I have found ,sometimes it is best to select a reputable manufacturer & go for a product that is not overtly popular & possibly being " flogged to death" on your chosen venue.

I have only just come back to barbel and river fishing, and have never fished the big rivers and tidal sections and such, so have not experienced the more intense side of barbeling.

However, from what I have seen the over use of any particular bait to the point where it could be considered as 'blown' has not yet been reached in barbel fishing. I might add that in recent years in carping circles there has been a great deal of doubt expressed as to whether this situation ever did actually exist anyway.

I would repeat what other posters have said...choose ANY good quality food bait and stick with it. apply it well and fish well and you WILL catch.... Simples :D

Dave,

If the fish are there use any BAIT:eek:

yer, but john, i'm still trying to find a bait that bream and chub hate but barbs love....lol

Dave,

If you find it mate please let me know:)

Good points Paul if you scare the fish from your swim then it wont matter what bait you are on........:(

They might not disappear, but will be aware of your presence: End Of (unless you can stay on several hours, which I invariably can't nor would wish to).

With good water craft & sensible bait application the choice of the boilie may not influence results. However this has not always been the case in my experience & some boilies are defenitely more instantaneous than others. Which can pay dividends when your fishing time is limited or your sessions are restircted due to the distance and subsequent cost of getting to your chosen venue.

In my previous post when i mentioned experimenting with different baits to avoid following the crowd i wasn't impyling that a bait had " blown" (sorry for the misundrstanding David) but was trying to say that if you do the same as others you will catch the same as others (which with my catch record probably wouldn't be such a bad thing).:(
