Blues For The Last Day...

Nice one Darryl . As the legend states on my tea mug ''Born to Fish , forced to work '' . The latter was my fate on the 14th . Ho hum ....

Hmm.

From talk of one season's ending and the start of others, to....

EDL-Bradford-007.jpg

Don't like the inference.

Still, for those who are not of the fur and fluff, you might benefit from www.flyforums.co.uk/salmon-fishing/334-how-i-once-loved-sea-trout-fishing-3.

Pages 6,7 & 8 are cracking reads.

Quite a nasty off-season little thing going on here at present, I see.

My subsequently (in)famous Fly Fishing Forums "How I once loved Sea-Trout Fishing" thread of 2006 was telling in a lot of ways - here are two of them:

1) A few of its main, P.B. attack dogs, at the time would-be but newbie big-time sea-trout fishers and sellers of the same, subsequently deleted their intemperate replies.

2) Two years later, in the aftermath of the 2008, the bankers blew it, financial meltdown, two people revisited the thread, one to say that I had put up a very fine defence, the other to say how prescient (my predictions of 2006 had come true) I had been.

But as for the stuff we're seeing HERE at the moment, vis-a-vis nothing at all, I leave you to draw your own conclusions (tip: nowt to do with fishing, maybe...?).

PS - Not bad from my memory, the above. I was wrong in one detail, however: only one man revisited the thread in 2008, a gent calling himself "Spotter Swatter" - HOW I once loved sea-trout fishing - Page 8 - Fly Fishing Forums

Still here.

But, I'm not too proud to eat my words and admit that Paul put up a damn fine defence and as I result of this I began to think of him as an honest chap who was not afraid to speak his mind.

It has to be said there was a prophetic quality to what he wrote.

I do hope he is well.

The ones who's posts are deleted are those who are no longer members. The posts were automatically removed when someone left. Many can still be read however because they are referred to by others including yourself, and posted in quotes.

To get the full picture you have to follow the links you make to other forums where you have fallen out with many, many others, made your predictably public and dramatic (and temporary) exit then try and try and drum up support for your cause by starting a new thread on a new forum. This causes another debate where you are predictably thrashed by other regular members, and so on, and so on.

Doesn't surprise me one bit that based on the views of two anonyous people  you now belatedly claim victory over folk who are not able to respond. Especially as, I recall that on FFF you used to create duplicate accounts in order to have a conversation with yourself. The upshot of the "I used to love sea trout............." thread was though, as ever, you sulked off.

Six years on you don't seem to have learned much from it.

Yes. And six years later some folk carry on desperately sniping, on other sites. As for FFF, several of its leading lights - one of them one of Britain's best salmon flyfishers, at home not in Russia - begged me to return (I was the site's Master Poster of the Year in the mid 2000s, after all), but qualified their begging (in one case, and I quote) with a "But I will understand if you don't, Paul. No amount of banning and moderating will keep the nasties off you...."

Sabu & Sewinman, David and Morgan Jones in real life, who became a full-time father and son team of knockers after I very politely declined a request by personal message from father David (Sabu) to take them sea-trout fishing in my old haunts in Wales. Best to know the whole story...

I have been in a few scrapes myself on here, often self inflicted, but am learning.............sort of.

But to be honest chaps. Please take this elsewhere. Its very boring and not even illuminating apart from opening old business.

You could even send each other FFF private messages. ;)

Cheers

Graham

Now....what about the abolition of the close season?

A man must have a right to reply and to reveal the truth, Keith, if someone posts something about him and that something is permitted by the site management to stand in full public view. Boils down to tiresome and pathetic "Well, he started it" argy-bargy, I know, but then I didn't start this idiocy.

Lest we forget the "happy place" the new BFW has largely been since its move from the old Yuku bearpit - the Rules: https://barbel.co.uk/site/vbulletin/forum/3-post1.html

Now, I was brought up to respect both people - ALL people - and the Rules, and have always done so here.

Too right Boote. And when someone posts a rambling tirade against the world and his wife it is not our right to remind you of the truth too?

How many people have you fallen out with on forums? Can it always their fault?
