Best baitrunners for standard barbel fishing

Nice to see the Penn's have gathered a following. I was cleaning my gear down after another session on the tidal Ribble a few days ago and one thing struck me - the reels are spotless! Hardly a mark on them after 3 years of solid abuse amongst rock, grit and sand. What did they coat them with? I've no idea but I've got a collection of reels from Shimano, Daiwa, Okuma etc that look like they have been used - a lot! The Penn's look like new. Peter mentioned they have been discontinued due to no demand. Odd comment for a reel that's been in production for nearly a decade! Yes, they have stopped making the Slammer 460L after years of production but the clutch system and cranking power live on in the Spinfisher reels. Penn - Reels - Spinning Reels - Penn Spinfisher V The smaller baitrunner, sorry live liner, versions of these will be perfect barbel reels be it low and clear or bank high and raging.

Lots of good 'baitrunner' reels on the market nowadays, shame most are a bit bigger than necessary for general river fishing.
Still using my shimi aero gt 5010's after 24 years,...tight or what!?

just bourt a new shimano 6000d £110+ £5p+p from billyclarke fishingtackle sheffield

Steve,
You've just had a right touch then as they've charged me £129.99(the price on their website) with free postage.Still, happy to get another D to match up with my current one. They are not listed on next years Shimano catalogue, although a delivery to Shimano is expected in January, maybe to meet back orders only.
Regards,
Pete.

Peter i said Ted Carters were doing for £110 so they priced matched it, I think they have still got some for sale.

Steve,
I was just glad to find someone who still had the 6000D in stock. Fair play to you regarding the pricematch, as D's are getting thin on the ground although plenty of EU's are available. Have you had an opportunity to use it yet. You won't be disappointed.
Regards
Pete.
