Donāt worry about the local anaesthetic Simon, both mine were done that way, they gave me a sedative before administering the spinal block and I was away with the fairies. Some say Iām still with them I had the op in the morning and they had me out of bed afternoon of the same day to start physioThanks for the well wishes everyone, means a lot.
Unfortunately this isn't my first ride on the bus so to speak. It's the culmination of a few too many knee operations but hopefully the end to constant pain and better knee stability. Less pain killers in the long run too.
A local anaesthetic for the first time rather than a general. Not looking forward to being awake and just lying there for the duration, I'd rather be asleep if I'm honest. But better recovery.
The op has come a little early TBH. I'm planning on retiring early 2025, and had hoped to have my knee done later next year. That way I wouldn't have gone back to work. But beggars can't be choosers. I'll be glad when it's done.
Sorry to resurrect and old thread, but I have some bad news and some good news regarding my predicament.
The bad news is that my fishing for this season, is probably now over.
The good news is that on the 28th of December I'm booked in to have a total knee replacement. Hopefully I'll be sorted and up and about, and raring to go by next June.
Simon, Best wishes to Mrs A I ām sure youāve been able to assure her that itās worth itLOL. I am.
But now Mrs A has gone under the knife for the first of both of her knees, so I'm on nurse duties for a while and my season is on hold for a bit.

If you're not going that much I'm sure you could find some swims on many rivers that aren't too dangerous. Just ask on here where you want to go. People will help because most understand.
Very pleased to hear that. Take it steady when you're out.I've had mine done, Andrew, late December, and I'm back to as near normal as I'll ever be. No pain, more stability, up and down stairs without pulling myself up with the hand rail. Really pleased with it. I think I will be OK on the banks now.

We'll certainly set the alarm off at the airport if we ever fly again though. LOL.
