Aero Baitrunner spool sizes?

Hi folks,

I’ve got a pair of Super Aero Baitrunner XTE 10000 reels and would like to know if I can get smaller spools (maybe 6000?!) to fit them. Anyone know if it’s doable or where I might find out?

Cheers,

Alan

Hi Alan,
Yes 6000 (which was newer name for as 4500...which had spools labeled R4.5) spools fit 10000s.

Photo shows 10k spool on a 4500, 8000 spool on a 6010 and 4500/6010/R4.5 spool on an XTE10000.

I believe 4010/5010 spools might not (smaller rotor on a 4500/6010 body)?

PS. Why? I generally put the bigger spools on the smaller bodies.

PPS. One or two combos of some bigger alloy 10k spooks on some 6000 bodies I recall used to rub just a little, but this has disappeared so I guess the high points just wore down a bit?

Thanks Adrian, really useful info that 👍🏻

In answer to your PS, I’m after a smaller spool for lighter line, nothing more than that really. I sold some spare 10k spools last year that were gathering dust- the ones on the reels have heavy braid for pike. If I can get a smaller spool and put 12lb mono on it then I’ll avoid buying an additional smaller reel (yes, I could have kept a 10k spool to do the same and just put a ton of backing on it, but I didn’t anticipate the need at the time!)

PS What photo?!

Hopefully photo now here.

Adrian - to save me trying the same on my various bait runners is the line lay the same. I'll dig my Vernier guage out later and measure the ID of the various spools

I have 4010s, 5010s, 6010s, 8010s, 10000 XTE and some of the match ones
Steve,
All have near identical line lay ( I think the diff.s shown here are due to diff. degree of spool-fill).

Are they identical? Probably not, as you might be able to see from the line lay on the 10k spool that is on a 6k body. It's a little bit tapered towards the front, but not noticeable in use (this combo last used on my first trip to the Wye in Oct ... first two bites were both doubles ....thx for asking😉)

The 6k spools have a longer skirt that I'd not noticed before .

I give in ("Oops there is a problem" error msg.) trying to attach photos.

Measurements are:-
10k- diameter 60.9mm, line lay 25.3mm
6k- dia. 54.8, line lay 25.2 to 26.3mm depn. on how much spool is filled.

The line lay isn’t effected by the spool itself. It’s effected by gear ratio/oscilation speed/oscilation distance
I’d expect the **10 gt models to be near on identical with any suitable spool that fits correctly.
