2 rod sleeve offering full rod protection?

Rob I saw in your classified thread your selling this at a loss because the company won’t accept it back. When did you buy it exactly because there are consumer rights/regulations on this. Don’t quote me on this but for non faulty goods return I think you get 28 days from purchase date. Online orders the purchase date is the date of order not delivery iirc. If it’s within this period they don’t get to just tell you to jog on.

Used my new Trakker NXG 2 Rod Padded Sleeve for the first time today................Well pleased, much easier unloading/loading than the Korum, more comfortable carrying (I’m 5ft-7 at most) and the zip goes full length,so all in all glad I made the change, highly recommended 👍👍 (blanked but that’s another story :()

The tracker nxg and the Korum are two completely different things.
of coarse the tracker is going to be easier to get rods in and out. There is no hard spine or hard protection. it’s a padded yet floppy hold-all. I’m sure it’s perfectly adequate as are the many many others just like it about.
the Korum has a tightly rapped hard spine which encapsulates the rods throughout the length of the hold all. You need to spread it slightly to get the rods in. No big deal just takes a few seconds longer and a bit of care. However the protection level of the Korum far exceeds that of any of the floppy hold-all’s and quivers. So it really depends on where the priorities are and what the individual needs from it. I personally wouldn’t swap the Korum for a tracker because The pro of easier rod removal doesn’t out weigh the con of no hard protection.

Hi Richard, I have to be honest this is a bit of an awkward one for me but a lesson has been learned!! A friend of mine has his own tackle shop and is one of the ever declining independent retailers still trading and trying to make a living from a fishing shop. As such, I have tried to support him/local business as much as I can. The issue of a small independent is that they just do not carry the stock of the big retail groups - Angling Direct, Total Fishing Tackle etc etc. I got a bit of discount from my mate, not loads but enough to warrant ordering it in through him. The issue always arises when it comes to returns. If it is an off the shelf item then I'm sure it would be no issue, but he's saying that as he ordered it in specially, Korum would not accept a return and therefore he would need to retain the item in his stock and hope to sell it, which it seems more and more he isn't prepared to do.

This leaves me in a position where after this latest issue of mine, I don't feel I can ask him to order me in anything else due to fear of not being able to return it in the event it is not what I expected. I know a number of people have had the same issue when they've ordered in specific items through him and decided they then don't want it. With a big retailer I would absolutely insist on a return unless it had been stated before point of order that I could not do so. So by the law of the land, I'm sure I could insist he takes it back but that would undoubtedly sour our friendship. For the cost of this item I just don't think it's worth the fall out, but obviously this affects my decision on all future orders I make. Pains me to send my business via eBay and large retail groups, but you have much more buyer protection buying through those channels.

I did message Korum yesterday to see if they are prepared to help me out, I'll maybe have to be careful not to drop my mate in the shit, but at the same time I'm £60 out of pocket on an item that will never see a river bank!! No reply as of yet...

Rob :)

Received a Drennan Specialist 2 Rod Hardcase yesterday, looks absolutely great without actually using it! My only concern, and I won't know until I do start using it, is that it looks like it could be snug fitting the reels in, but i'm sure it will be fine :)

I'm looking for a two rod hardcase type carrier. I don't want the Drennan as it is a very snug fit. I require more room so there is less of a pantomime in the dark whilst packing away. I am also looking for good protection compartmentalisation so that the rod blanks don't grind together. What does the forum recommend?

Well the saga continues 😂

Having received my new rods and just set them up with the new 6000D's, I can safely say the Drennan 2 rod hardcase is a bloody snug fit, as in ridiculously snug - I struggled to do the zip up!

So it's take 3... I've ordered a Shimano Tribal 2 rod sleeve from Bobco for now, £30. My mate has this and it's very similar to the Trakker NXG.

And there will shortly be an as new Drennan Specialist 2 Rod Hardcase up for sale. I'd say this will be fine for 4000 size reels and smaller but definitely a struggle for 6000 or bigger (FFS!!😅)

The trakker 2 rod should have been your choice

Watched a YouTube video review, looked quite big and bulky to me Stuart? I may buy it yet. The Shimano one was only £30 and my mate has it so I know it's not big and bulky, plus it has all the external pockets I need. These hard case ones are all a great idea, but useless if you're using 6000 and up sized reels :(

Not even remotely bulky in my view .

2 external pockets for sticks and pod , brolly in the outside pocket on the back , landing net pole forms the spine , all folds up and goes under the brolly

I replaced my Korum total protection 2 rod with the Trakker NXG (1 up and 1 down version) Although not as “neat” looking as the Korum it is a very good piece of kit, ample padding and plenty of space for bank sticks etc and very comfortable to carry. My rods are Free Spirits with 5000 baitrunners and they fit in there very nicely.

I purchased the Drennan 2 rod hardcase online. Well put together, but as stated it was too snug for use with 2 rods for my liking. Nothing worse than a pantomime when packing away in the wet in the dark. Sold it before use which was a pity. Shame, as I like to support Drennan, as they do a lot for specialist angling with the Drennan Cup sponsorship, and have been innovative over the years.

Took my Drennan hardcase out for a few test outings for the last sessions of the season. It’s a squeeze with 4000s too. If the zips are the same as the ones they use in the rest of the luggage range (think they are), they won’t last under that kind of duress. Shame...

It is tight! My main bugbear however is the carry handle and strap- they are not positioned correctly to balance out properly when carrying it which seems a big oversight. I am going to have to see if I can add some weight to the base as a counter balance. I had expected it to be better thought out!

I have an NGT one. Not hard case.

Plenty of room for 2x 2 pce 12ft rods even with top and bottom protectors. Fine for 5000 reels.
Guess ok for 6000.

Well padded with divider. Zips seem fine.

Very rare I use it. Quiver 95pc of time.. at the moment its protecting rods sans reels in storage.

Hi. First post for many years but getting back into barbel after a long break. Is there a definitive fully zipped / padded rod holdall that fits 2 made up carp rods, brolly, landing net pole and net, and bank sticks. Looking at the Greys prodigy but just want to make sure this isn't a little bit on the bulky side? Has anyone actually got one? Thanks.

Hi Mark

I have one and I don’t think it’s too bulky. I’m just clearing out the shed so I’ve taken a photo with a rod and a football for perspective

A brolly and net and banksticks, two made up rods and an unmade rod all fit in nicely, it’s a bit stretched when my shelter is in there instead of a brolly

I really like it, it’s the perfect size for a lot of the fishing I do

Just to add, it isn’t a hard case, and I have managed to snap off the tip off one of my rods when I was a bit heavy handed with it

Looks what I'm after. I use pins most of the time so not worried about reel space. I think I'm going to treat myself. Thanks for the info Dave.
