“Black Bin Liners Full Of Barbelâ€

Tim,
What i was told is that this has been happening on the Caradoc water from the opposite bank getting access from the suspension bridge knowing the water this is possible !

I don’t know any other information as I said I got this story second hand and was not present when this was said by the fishery guide !

I would presume that the WUF must know something about this if its more or less public knowledge but I may give them a ring tomorrow and ask if there is any substance in the story

Dave

I thought of this stretch when you first posted this up, and I am not surprised if the story is true, there are big shoals of barbel there, really hope it is all b/s.

I understand what you are saying Keith about the barbel not being the best for the table but i and a few others did witness 2 lads putting barbel in a bag and taking it away from the river.:mad:
They were on the far bank so we could do nothing other then make the call to the authorities!!

Had barbel in fish stews in Spain, wouldn't be my first choice of freshwater fish to eat by a long way. Particularly with the number of Zander in the Severn, which are both very tasty, a pest species and completely legal to take for the pot at any size. But some take whatever they catch and not just EE's . Certainly on the Teme it is usually locals who have done this for generations and aren't about to stop.
I would say that more barbel on the Teme are killed by bad handling, repeat captures and the like than taken for the pot tho'

What is there to cringe at?? Yeah I might not have my way with words but if you don't ask questions you never learn! And the world is a free place and opinions are free at end of the day I put what i think or what's on my mind isn't that the idea of forums??? To discuss give and take information or have I gone mentally ill?? and the end of the day I turn up on the banks catch fish realease them safely back in to the unknown and go home and to be honest I must be doing something right giving that Iv had just short of 60 barbel this season!!!!!

The internet warrior talk, the fact you can't pick a hook link yet and think you're going to break the record by design, and statements like "I'd walk 40 miles on broken glass" though I imagine blood loss would kick in after the first couple....
And 60 Barbel so far isn't that impressive....

Course I can pick an hooklink!!! it's the right one for the right job that I had to find!!! And again IMO (if I'm ok to have one) there's no need to start spouting off is there who are you Danny Fairbrass in disguise? when everything reads the same and priced differently choosing your rig hooklength hooks leads reels rods and when you've been away from fishing for a few years and never really targeted barbel as passionate As I am then help is nice when asking questions. Yeah so what if I have dream and aim millions of people in the world have a dream and an aim isnt that part of life??? 60 barbel may not be good by your standards, but when I hav'nt really been equipped for the job until very recently and it's my first serious season im pretty sure it's good by anyone's. try and pull me down all you want but one thing is for sure I know I have the ability to fish and I know I also have the time to do it and can have an aim and a dream in life. End of chat. All the best and good luck

so , your passionate about barbel then  didnt know that:D

why not put a little back into your club and the sport ?

i do agree with a previous poster though , i dread to think what would happen to the water you take a record from:rolleyes:

sometimes , instead of just hitting the keyboard the instant you have a thought , just stop for a moment , breathe and think

Dave, Neil,
Caradoc is the water I suspected you might be talking about. As I said, I know the owner of the upper part of the opposite bank who employs EEs to work on his fruit farm. I can have a word with him, but will need dates & times and as much detail as possible.
PM me if preferred.
I was fishing another WUF water today and found 3 EEs poaching with spinning gear. A quick call to the owner and they were quickly moved on.
regards,
Tim

PS can we stick to the thread rather than discuss Wayne's world!

Ah well, there's one chap who's only crime was to bubble over with enthusiasm well and truly ripped to pieces in true school-yard bully fashion. I dread to think what would have happened to him if he had really done anything wrong :(

Take a deep breath and think before posting was one piece of advice offered to Wayne during this public pasting. Not a bad idea for all of us to put into practice at times I would have thought. I for one have had both feet so far down my own throat at times I couldn't get one free to give myself a good kick up the backside :p, and I do believe one or two others (cough) may have a few regrets over certain past posts

Yes, the fella comes over slightly naive at times, and yes he gets a bit carried away as well....enthusiastic and over excited don't begin to cover Wayne :D I just wish some of it would rub off on me....I need a bit of that, and as far as I am aware they haven't invented a Viagra variant for 'fisherman's droop' yet :p

Chill out lads, go kick a couple of poachers instead :p

Cheers, Dave.

Some of Waynes posts have made me cringe, my last post was making light of Tims post mentioning Waynes world!

Not having a go, just some posts have come across a bit full on.

Again this is not a personal attack. :)

I can't see Neil being in the least worried about whats going on, It's only a few of his workers that actually fish and from what I'v seen they dont catch alot, certainly not bin bags full. They've been doing it for years up there and I'v spoke to a few individuals about it, all I'v ever seen on the bank is 1 smal pike.

Hi Mark,
I would have thought Neil would be worried about bin liners full of barbel being removed from the river, bearing in mind the interests of the members of the club/syndicate that fish his water. He has asked me in the past to tell him if I see any of his workers fishing..
But as you mentioned, the EEs I've seen and caught fishing other stretches have all been spinning. I can't imagine them catching bin liners of barbel on a small mepps, can you? That's why I'd like to try and establish if there's any truth in this accusation, before attempting to do anything about it.
regards,
Tim

Quite a few variables involved there, to come up with that little pearl of wisdom, don't you think? I'd be happy with 60 so far.

If you don't like reading posts by certain individuals, isn't there a facility to block? I, for one, find Wayne's enthusiasm infectious, and he's using the forum to find answers.

Sorry to digress from the thread's more serious subject matter :)

Okay, from what I've gathered he has fished the trent solid all season. Lots of time on an easy water ? What other variables would you like to throw in in the hope of making it sound impressive ?

Anyway I shall say no more, because to be honest I think wayne in a wind up from someone on the 'other side'. Wouldn't be the first time after all...
