I have a Korum Aeronium Supa-Lite Recliner Chair currently but think Barry that's a Korum Supa Lite Stretch Chair. Any thoughts on chairs here as I know Korum have brought out a few newer models recently. I was thinking of getting one of the S23 range that would double up as a stillwater...
Being "comfortable" as you put it Paul is when you think you're in the right area and the place looks fishy as I call it. I know when I've been at a spot for sometimes 10 mins that it just doesn't feel right and I get itchy feet and then usually move. Having that fish sense is sometimes a bit...
It all depends on whether I'm in roving mode or not. Ideally I'd have similar tackle as pictured but if I'm out with Feeder rod then I'd put my small Korum seat in just for some comfort. A quiver of some type helps with bank sticks and rod, net/handle, in terms of carrying.
Roving mode then 1...
Looks nice Richard so got me debating the Avenger now when the 15ft version is available or this X-one. More competition in the specimen/heavy float range is always good as I have been asking Mr Tunley whether he is going to bring out a 15ft model as I have his 13.5 ft version which is...
Russ, the Normark Avenger 15ft is due out in a few months (May/June 2026 I believe) so am considering one of these as a friend let me have a try of his 13ft Avenger on a smaller river and that was a joy to use. The Acolytes are certainly up there in value for money though as I've tried the Plus...
I had a go with some RidgeMonkey FluoroCast Fluorocarbon line the other day as a friend has switched over on his carp gear. It casts really well and is low stretch so I thought this might be a good option for our Barbel work. Any one else tried this on the river as it seem good on the spool...
I would take your rod to a good tackle shop and try out the reels you quite like on your rod and see how they feel, and what you like. It's all personal preference in terms of looks and what you have to spend so you can go high end and spend a lot of money, but I think there are so many good...
As Richard has responded I also use Pre-tied hook lengths and store in the match style boxes available, using a loop to loop style for connecting to main line. It allows me to change from a maggot/castor on hook scenario to a banded hair offering in quick time.
For reels that don't offer line reducers I've opted to using a backing made up of 2mm / 1mm or 3mm versions of below. It's works for me as there is a little squashing of the foam tape but I can usually gage what I need, even if that's doubling up of the foam tape. You can trim to the size of...
I used to pinch some of our Xmas decorations with a hook etc so very festive. Not baubles but something else which was a bit heavier and durable. Then came home made monkey climbers of our own making from descriptions in books.
The good old days eh.....
Wickersley Angling are one of the main fishing tackle stockist so its a great shop in Rotherham area. Alan Taylor always raves on about it so his YouTube channel is always worth a visit so there are videos on HH. https://www.youtube.com/@wickersleyanglingmedia
I bought one of their tops when...
I have a MT Dark Carbon in 1.75 and 2.5 TC and use them for Barbel and other things so they are a great rod. Maybe not seeing them in Second Hand market mean it's something people keep hold of and appreciate as I certainly do and think they were good value. The new Harrison Specialist is...
Like Christian mentioned the Aviator Flex is a really nice rod so I use them not just for carp but also for when I fish for tench and bream in local lake that has them over 10lb. They don't feel like a 3lb 2ox TC rod unless you need them to be so am comfortable fishing at all ranges. They are...
So much easier than in the 80's sorting out mixes (from Carp Fever) and rolling boilies yourself. Times have changed from having a cupboard full of powders/concoctions more like an Alchemist.
Just taken delivery of FJ6 jacket Nigel so certainly feels warm without being too bulky (won't be sat on the bank like Michelin Man). I know it's more a shower proof style of jacket rather than downpour style so I do have an outer layer waterproof shell that would cover that if needed.
What I...
Thanks Barry and others for updates here as those Spec'ed Up Boilies look very tasty and have made an order from Baitworks today. I'll have to sort out prep area in the garage I think as wifey isn't keen on me using the overflow freezer for my 'stinky shit' as she puts it.
One point on Steve's...
I like Etienne have been doing some looking around for float trotting reels so I do have a Matrix HX Pro 4000 already and find this a nice tool for all manner of coarse fishing. When checking this post I thought I'd never really considered Cadence reels so was having a look on their site and...
I have a Mark Tunley MK1 Specialist Float which I'm using both for general float fishing (smaller fish to 2-3 lbs) but just step up the line for bigger fish. It's a fairly recent purchase this year so have had carp out to 12 lb which 'give a bit of a pull' and some smaller barbel to 7 lbs as my...
Why not consider the Normark Titan and Avenger range in the 12ft - 14ft options as that would give you ideal rod for smaller rivers and a longer rod when required. I've seem the Normarks in use and the guys I've chatted had only good things to say. The Acolyte range are lovely rods though so...
