I take a rucksack with every thing in it. My rod and reel is already set up to fish. When I am float fishing, I keep terminal tackle in a chest wader pouch and have 2 maggot/bait bags.
In total agreement with you in this point. I bought a 13.5 Mark Tunley rod to deal with the scenario you mentioned. In hit and hold swims soft action long rods give the fish the edge in snagging you up.
Like other contributors to this thread, it's a sad to learn the Future Angling are closing. It was a brilliant independent shop. AD are a national company, but they are not cheap IMO.
I have Chimera 3 and 4s. Both are excellent through action rods. River levels dictate which rods I use, apart from I am fishing somewhere that requires a long cast. If you are going to buy one of the two models I would pick the 4s as they are more versatile.
