Korum graphite brolly for me. My Keenets one from Argos finally gave up the ghost after 19 years and I stumbled across an unused one on eBay for £50. Very happy with it and might buy some storm caps for it if I decide to sit still for longer in a swim than I tend to.
No, I just meant that based on my first visit yesterday it is prolific for chub. I had 10 and lost another two. Very different in character to the stretches I tend to fish between Bath and Chippenham - wide open floodplain and low banks where you can be at the water’s edge. I’m very excited...
Very exciting today - new pb of 1lb 13 oz. It looked massive and perfect. I think it might just be the best fish I have caught of any species. Might just have to try again tomorrow.

I went back today with a slightly less ragey river. Lots of chub pulls and knocks and three nice ones managed to hang on. Still hoping for a barbel from my home stretch.
Just be careful coming back over the railings! Yesterday afternoon got my chair strap tangled round the bike rack and fell headlong desperately trying avoid damaging my rods. Fortunately no harm done and the librarian didn’t notice the kerfuffle.
Welcome Craig, like you say Lacock and keep on the move with pellets you should find chub. There are barbel but you might have to be patient. Hoping to get over that way myself on Saturday. Good luck.
I thought that there was little need to back lead when upstreaming as the flow will pin the line down for you. I suppose that in a low pace swim it might be worth considering. When I have had it work for me the bites have been very confident and no need to strike, just tighten up and hold on...
