    Tinca tinca book

Dai Gribble’s book has plenty of tench chapters in it, as do Tony Miles and Chris Turnbull books (in case you haven’t got them)

Had some custom rods made recently

I think somebody told me that Dave Lumb’s Standard Specialist Harrisons are the same blank as the Ballistas? I have two of the 204s, the unground wrap of the carbon is very retro but I really like it

Wanted - Drennan Series 7 Tench & Specimen Float 13’

Drennan compact Power Float anybody? Or experience of them? I imagine they are a bit, err, powerful?? Other 13’ two piece float rods that cope ok with 4-6lb line recommendations?

Wanted - Drennan Series 7 Tench & Specimen Float 13’

Thanks Neil. I’d spotted that these had been introduced probably as the Series 7 replacement. Does the retractable telescopic butt work ok? I’ve got an Acolyte Compact and the screw off section of the handle is perfect…which is what the Series 7 had.

Wanted - Drennan Series 7 Tench & Specimen Float 13’

There are a couple on eBay but collection only. If anybody has one that isn’t being used and is willing to part with it (and post it), I might be interested. Thanks

    Posting rods

Mike, Shop dependent. Holme on Spalding Moor said no, Goole said £30-odd and Market Weighton were £12 (or thereabouts) no measuring but weighed the tube. Sent rods twice in the last few months 👍

    Posting rods

Try the post office first. The three I’ve tried said that they can’t post them or it will cost £30-odd or, thankfully my local, £12!

    Reel advice sought please

If you haven’t already decided, there’s a bloke selling a Daiwa SS II 3500C on Marketplace, they are bloody great. Prefer it to the Suveran and the clutch is as good as my recently serviced 3500Bs. I wouldn’t go near a 2600

    Midland tench water

What did it weigh, Josh? Did you see it or have you seen a photo? Hopefully not confirmed by a carper… I’m only (half) joking, I am just naturally sceptical.

    Midland tench water

Sure there are or think/hope there are, Jon??!! 😆 I bet there aren’t many places that regularly produces 8s to tench anglers who weigh them properly - but I hope I’m wrong!

    Midland tench water

I ventured on to the Centre when I stopped catching anything on the South in my third year. I would save my holidays so that I could do Sunday to Wednesday for (give or take) six weeks through May and into June and with nobody to cajole me into it when it was tough going. The things you do for...

    Midland tench water

I fished Nazeing for three springs and loved it. Can’t imagine I’ll ever want a big fish enough to do that weekly drive from East Yorkshire again but never had or saw any issues whatsoever. In fact, everybody was really friendly. Really tough going at times but also some fish that just weren’t...

    Harrison specialist Blanks

No experience of the 2lb Specialist but I spoke to Dave Lumb when I was looking for a flood water rod. I previously used my Chimera 2s in all conditions and generally they coped but I wanted a rod that would bend as the pressure on the line increased in the hope that the lead would remain in...
