Brilliant mix and variety . Well done. Something to remember with pride. I would be very happy with that!

Hi Alec,

My rod was a Drennan Tench and Bream 2lbtc, main line 8lb which was then upped to 12lb, 6lb hook linked then upped to 10lb and a size 8 Drennan Specimen hook.

It took about twenty minutes to land and swam off strongly.

How have you liked the rods, Tony? (Presumably the ones you got off me?). Handy to have that power if a massive cat is a possibility! How did you get that in the net?? Nice tenching by the sounds of it - got to be happy with 7s up here in the north.

I've had 8s further up the A1 than York. There's also the odd water where there's a slim chance of a double.
They are certainly possible but definitely still rare though, Chris! I’ve said on here before how ‘big’ tench have to be classified differently up here, say north of a diagonal line from Manchester to Nottingham. In my opinion, an 8 is achievable for a ‘serious’ tencher and can turn up for a lucky bloke. But i haven’t seen many convincing photos of 9s from Yorkshire and, like you say, chances of a 10 must be slim. I just hope tenching doesn’t become the new barbelling 🤣

Hi Matt, hope you are well, are you still in that lovely village I picked the rods up from ?
So yes they are your old rods and I find them superb and as you say power when needed.
As for netting the Cat I always have a 42" net made up in case of carp I also have history with Cats so not really a problem but another pair of hands would have been helpful.
Reasonably happy with this year's Tenching but the water does have them to 10lb so maybe I should done better as the school report read !!!
