    Recommendations for dead bait rods

I didn't realise they were on Harrison blanks . I have a pair of the pikemaster 11ft boat roads that are first class on smaller rivers and drains. Got them both for price of one when they were discontinued years ago (guessing 18-19 yrs ago??)

    Torrix or hi s rods

Is the Lone Angler 1.75 and the floodwater based on at torrix , my favourite rods and wished that I'd bought both as a pair? That said the free spirit 2lb barbel tamer as an 11ft is my go to Nidd rod, although I bought on the hoof so not sure if there is an eqiuvelent otr better , I also like...

    VERY Waterproof jacket

I second the previous thread about farmer's clothing etc . The gear made for the New Zealand market is first class and they often feature bib and brace over trousers within their range : www.kiwikit.co.uk

    Hacking

I bought a few of these fold up sickles cheap from web (about £25 for 3- a few years ago) , they are cheap for a reason and not for a full on day's bashing , but handy to stick in a folded up chair and make short work of tidying a peg. I usually clear a few over half an hour whilst the baiting...

    Porpoising Barbel

Good question, I have seen fish porpoising load of times on Yorks Ouse but never on any of the other Yorkshire rivers . Can be fustrating when you blank despite barbel showing themselves right in front of you.

    Old bait

With working away I have hardly been in last few seasons and this has resulted in a 5 kilo bag of freezer boilies left , these will be crumbed for feeder ( mixed with method mix for very slow release) or pva with a bit chucked into glugged hookbaits . Pellets I will bin , not worth the...

    River Wharfe/Derwent.

The Leeds yearbook represents great value, as someone has before, the Nidd is a great small river plus you have the in form Ouse very close by too.

    Cambs/ Beds Barbel

DOH! Just read previous thread about the Ivel , I guess that's a resounding no.?

    Cambs/ Beds Barbel

Due to work , I am exiled in St Ives, Cambs for next year and I'm wondering what clubs, rivers would be best to pursue. Ideally, same venues have pedigree for winter chub or pike too. I've always liked look of Ivel around Sandy but I'm out of touch with ongoing predation, is Ivel still worth a...

    Just Re Spooled

Gold label is great -if you can find a supplier. Due to lack of shops stocking it, I changed to ESP Synchro after recommendations from others and confirm that it performs well. I use big game on my floodwater rods.

    New homes, LOW river levels.

A very good question raised, up here in N Yorks, the council are trying push through 3000 new homes around Whixley, the Hammertons and Cattal plus a new massive sugar beet processing plant near the A1 , both of which will have serious implications for the Nidd and Ouse which are seriously low...

    New line

Thanks All, for the advice. Seems to the norm these days with tackle, that manufacturers discontinue their better products, if I was more of a tackle tart perhaps I'd be up to speed.

    New line

Just respooled a reel for new season and used last of my stock of trusty 12lb Pro Gold and have discovered that it’s no longer available! Whats everyone using these days, Gardner GR60 looks good? This is for small to medium rivers.

Advice on a new rucksack and rod holdall

The Thinking Anglers rucksack and quiver is a brilliant bit of kit but I believe that Saber do exactly the same rucksack at a cheaper price.

    Backpack style tackle bags.

Another vote for the Thinking Anglers rucksack, the slim quiver is also a good piece of kit

    Muckboot repair

    Thanks all for the advice.

    Muckboot repair

I recently sliced the rubber ( foot) bit on my Muckboot on some fencing wire but it hasn't tore right through. Has anyone carried out a repair before? I'm looking to try cleaning around the slit with white spirit then infilling it with shoe goo or similar but will it give a long term repair...

    freezer baits

I try to use freezer baits ,more for confidence, plus my bait of choice, freshwater shrimp easily crumbs down to dust for the pva bag/ feeder as well as having excellent matching hardened hookbaits, booster liquid and paste. That said, for impromptu sessions, source shelf life has proven to be...
