    Tony Miles

Never met Tony, but felt though I knew him through his brilliant way with words. Inspired many of us to pursue big barbel. Very sad news. RIP

    John Cook

Very sad news. Being a Loddon fisher our paths crossed on a few occasions and we always had a good chat about how the fishing was going. The Loddon blessed him with some lovely looking barbel during the late summer months. My condolences to his family. RIP John

    Landing net woes

Steve, I've been using this one for years now and never had a problem. Seen plenty of big barbel and pike in it, but not so many recently I must add. http://www.banksidetackle.co.uk/prod/wychwood-36inch-signature-landing-net Shop around as you might find it cheaper. Cheers Paul ps. I bought...

    Loading braid on a multiplier

Depends what size lures you are chucking, reel size and stiffness of rod. I would step up your trace and braid strength regardless Cliff. Those hooks won't bend out on too easily on 30lb braid/20lb trace unless you are chucking small lures and targeting jacks. Better to ask than to find...

    Loading braid on a multiplier

Cliff, loads of lure info on other websites related to lure fishing if you're looking for advice. LAS, Pikers Pit are your best bet. It's a slippery slope mind, this predator fishing malarkey so beware ;). With the Wye and Severn on your doorstep, I'm extremely jealous.

    Pike Fishing On The Kennet

Float or sunken float paternoster will stop the crays stealing your bait. Make sure you use an up-trace and rotten bottom so you don't get any bite-offs or tethered pike. :)

    When carpers move in...a dilemma

A little white lie might make them think Steve. Just say you've had twice as many barbel and carp as them using hemp and caster, and you've found big beds of hard boillie and pellet spook the fish. If they take it on board, then you wont have to push them in.

    Your choice of fishing break

Tony, I've seen a few YT vids catching them on a dry fly in the shallows in Spain. So on my wish list when I retire in

    Your choice of fishing break

Graham....where ever you go take a fly rod to keep active. My wish list would be Sweden, Norway or Iceland chasing salmon, sea trout or pike.

    T&DFC open day

Shameless :p I'll pop down in the afternoon with my daughter. I had to convince her it's too warm for pike, so she'll be armed with the float rod and pin. :D

    Head torches

I like the Alpkit, but wish they would sort out the brittle plastic on the battery casing. I've had three that have broken where the battery case clips shut. Anyone else had this problem? Currently trying out the Petzl Tactikka (latest version) at three times the cost. It doesn't eat...

BFW fly fishing day? anyone interested?

Likewise Mark. Too windy as you know to teach the art of casting a fly properly. However I think we made the best of a tough day on Farmoor, which resulted in a good few trout between us. Thanks to Graham for organizing the day. Gary's first followed by Marks after a few close calls. ;)
