Harrison Torrix 11 ft 2lb for Tench or the 11 ft 1.75lb

Because that's my experience of fishing with it - each to their own. I have the 12ft 1.75lb Torrix's as well and they're much better for that sort of fishing.

Harrison Torrix 11 ft 2lb for Tench or the 11 ft 1.75lb

It’s can do most things but it’s not designed for lobbing 2-3oz leads out. I also used it for floater fishing and it didn’t have the pick up necessary when fishing at anything other than close range. I’ve had carp up to upper doubles and a friend had a 17lb barbel on it (that’s another story!)...

Harrison Torrix 11 ft 2lb for Tench or the 11 ft 1.75lb

The 11ft / 1.75lb is an absolute gem of a rod when used for rolling meat and it’s also great for floater fishing at close range. However in my experience it doesn’t feel quite right when using it for anything else.

    Selling tackle

I’ve sold the odd bit of tackle both on here and on eBay, but with an impending house move I’m going to have quite a few bits to sell. A friend mentioned Facebook marketplace and Vinted as other places to try. My only experience on FB marketplace was disastrous and I only know Vinted as my kids...

Which braided mainline for rolling meat?

I think Ray used 30lb Spiderwire which wouldn’t harm the fish and was a similar diameter to 10lb Maxima. I used it for a while but switched to standard 12lb mono as I didn’t feel a massive difference in terms of sensitivity. You need some thickness to the line to create the drag in the bow in...

    Treasure trove - still useable?

That's a good idea - however I tried to make up some of the supermilk and it's not looking the right colour...

    Treasure trove - still useable?

Cleaning out my basement ahead of a house move and stumbled across this - I knew the luncheon meat was down there but had forgotten about the John Baker stuff... Obvs the luncheon meat should be fine to use, and the sausage sizzle is unopened, as is the second bag of supermilk, however will the...

    Speedia Wide Drum Deluxe

Since I posted there's been a couple on eBay selling for cheaper so I haven't bothered to put it on there. Around the time I put the price as £90 in June there was one sold on eBay for £110 that looked to be in similar condition hence thinking £90 was fair. There's one on eBay at the moment on...

    Speedia Wide Drum Deluxe

Bought this years ago and had it serviced by Garry Mills. Used it twice (and caught both times!) but then been sat in my basement unused for years. Obviously it's not pristine but for it's age it's in very good working order. Spins very true and no wobble. £110 posted

    2 x Shimano Baitrunner Aero 8000 GTE-B

2 x Shimano Baitrunner Aero 8000 GTE-B reels - bought them second hand but only used them a couple of times. Full working condition and cosmetically all is fine. £110 posted

    JW Young Super Lightweight Centrepin 4 x 3/4 (Y2084SL)

Had a bit of clear out and found some stuff I don't think I'll ever use. First up is a JW Young lighweight centre pin. I got as far as loading it with 12lb Gamma Edge line and set up a rod with it, but that's as close to the bank as it got. And I've had it for years....! It's in pristine...
