    The Method

Yes, used it quite a bit on a small river in the past as it made it easy to place a bait in some tight spots. It was pretty effective and as you would imagine, the bites were pretty ferocious !!

    Your first barbel photo

Not my first barbel by a long chalk, but probably the oldest photo I have. 4lbs odd from The Marden, I'M guessing that I was about 22-23 in this pic (1993/4)

    Whats your PB?

My PB is 12lbs exactly, 3 times !! Twice in the same day from the Taff (different fish) and once from the Bristol Avon. I consider my 'best' barbel however to be an 11lbs 1ozs fish from the River Marden, a fish that I know I have absolutely no chance of bettering from that river in my lifetime...

The River Marden at Stanley and downstream, when it still had a good head of barbel and thick ranunculus beds........... Sight fishing like none I've ever experienced or bettered.

    Sad News about JW

Hi all, Just found out today that one of our oldest members John Walker (This Is John to our older members) has sadly passed away 😔 John was a big man with a big character, told it as it was and had a huge heart. I didn’t know him nearly as well as others, but if he liked you, you had a friend...

    New PB!

Lovely little critters, catch a few on The River Marden. Kristian Price, a lad who used to post on here, showed me a picture of a huge one he caught there on a lobworm, it was the biggest one I’ve ever seen !!!

    Pellets

I still have my stash Bob !! Friends have caught on them in recent seasons, so they are still doing the bizz ! Best pellets I've ever used.

No more barbel no more carp

I have a thing for Dace, easy to catch in numbers, but finding and catching bigger ones is more of a challenge.

    River Taff

I've never fished The Frome unfortunately. Haven't fished The Taff in a while either........

    River Taff

Best Grayling water I have ever fished Graham, not the prettiest, but very prolific. I don't think it's as good for barbel as it once was, but then again, I don't think they get fished for as much as they did ? Had a huge trout from there a few years back too..........
