They do seem to get good reviews , just concerned on size , im using ss2600 's atm and dont want a big pit reel on my barbel rods , i fish Hants Avon mainly atm and most of my fishing is 2 rod lengths max so i dont need a casting reel , might get one and have a look

Hi, just curious to what sort of rods people are using when fishing the Thames , do you step up to higher tc or is 1.75 lb tc suitable ?

Perhaps we need a separate section on BFW called Rigs where anyone who has any thoughts/ideas can post on with a view to discussing and sharing ideas and at least if anyones not interested in rigs or rig mechanics they dont have to go into that section and leave us who are alone

I showed the examples of the German rig mainly because i know there are people on here who are interested in rig development and thought they may find it useful to them or even find that there are some already using it but after reading some of the comments after my post i dont know why i...

Or just seen this , Martin bowlers barbel wafter rig , quite similar to the German rig but using a wafter boilie

Reviving this thread , has anyone used the German rig where the bait is mounted on the hook by either a bait screw or hook swivel and is stopped by a hook bead opp the barb and fished on a stiff hooklink? If they suck in the bait the hook is in the mouth and should aid hooking , just a thought

Hmmm, on some of the pressured stretches of the Hants Avon where a few of the big girls have been caught a few times i'd say rigs do play a part

Perhaps pop ups may be an alternative ?

I'm thinking of going back to uncoated supple braid to give some unrestricted movement
