Hi
Can anyone recommend a good quality, long rod rest which enables you to keep the tip high but that is also light and easily transported?
The tripod type look robust but they look a bit bulky for a mobile angling approach.
thanks
Richard
I am after a Daiwa TDR or TDX 3012,must be in excellent/perfect condition
Other Daiwa reels of a similar spec also considered eg.Daiwa ss2 3000C

Riverge fluoro
I have used Riverge Reel Soft for both carp and barbel(12lb) and have not had any problems with breakages.
Fluoro does vary a good deal in quality/suppleness so it is worth searching out the good stuff.

I need to remove some varnish(poly type rather than epoxy)from one of my rods and would like some advice on the easiest/best way to do this.
Avoiding damage to the blank is a priority as it has a wrap over the core blank.
thanks
Reels
Hi Mark
Had a brief encounter with Fox reels a couple of years back and was not impressed.Flashy spec and lots of ball races do not necessarily make for a great reel.
Latest models may be better but I would rather stick with Shimano or Daiwa as they have proven smooth and reliable...
I am after a 2.25lb rod for both winter barbel and carp floater use.
Free Spirit or Infinity advanced would e ideal but anything considered.
thanks

Access
Sounds like I was just unlucky picking a stretch that was massively overgrown.
Ray Mears would have been in his element and I swear I saw a tribe of pygmies and a herd of wildebeest at one point!!
I recently fished the Lower Ballingham beat and found the banks massively overgrown to such an extent that access could only be made comofrtably at one point and at a struggle at one more point.
Have others found such access issues on other stretches of the U&W foundation waters.

Hi Neil
I am based in Gloucestershire but travel widely so could potentially meet up if you are not in a mad rush.
Could potentially post rods but would need to check mailing options so I could give you an accurate price.

I store all my dry bait in a cool, dark garage and wondered how long it remains in usable/safe condition for fishing?
I have never seen any storage and use by dates on any pellets, groundbait or general fishing bait so would welcome views on this.
Have seen many good reports as to quality of Wychwood Rapier barbel rods.
Is the Leeda Rapier the same rod or has the name change led to a different blank/fittings?
Any insight appreciated.h
