    Chris Brown Nets

Martin, the mesh to the sides of the net is quite large, and does have the potential to snag a dorsal if not careful. All it takes is to ensure the fin is folded flat before lifting. Standard fishcare isnt it. The mesh to the base is small enough to cause no problems. The weight of my net...

    New Tackle Review added

Yeah that was something that bothered me. My previous net handle was a telescopic affair (which I chose at the tackle shop) but the grit and abuse wore the joint, leaving me with a three foot handle... Now if you'll excuse me, I'm off to polish my banksticks :)

    JAG Hook Sharpening stones

Ade, Half a dozen or so strokes and a turned point is ready to be recast. I reckon life's too short to be tying rigs. But, we pays our money and makes our choice..

    JAG Hook Sharpening stones

The red and green two-pack comes without vice, but with two clear plastic tubes with end caps. I've not got the vice, I make do with forceps. I got mine from tacklebox online as I can't get them locally. Hope that helps.

    JAG Hook Sharpening stones

Brilliant! I can take a hook with a turned point, which I would otherwise throw away, give it a stroke with these badboys, and put it back in the packet sharper than before I'd used it! Highly recommended. I've got the red and green ones. They even come with little protective tubes...

Where to get a sack of help from ???

Jon, I agree. It's all down to the individual and their approach, quite right. I feel that an overnight soak in a sealed bucket of boiling water, releases enough oil to gain the attraction benefits, while at the same time not boiling for so long that most of the oil/attraction is lost to the...

Using a deep fat fryer for boiling particles

It would either work a treat or be a disaster. I imagine the seeds would disintegrate if boiled first. I wouldn't bother but I'm not very adventurous!

    Ultima Power Plus - alternatives?

If it's of any interest (!) I have gone from Shimano Catana which seems to have similar properties to power plus, if a little dearer. According to tacklebox.co.uk line tests, 10lb has a diameter of .30mm but breaks at 16lb. Cheers all

Using a deep fat fryer for boiling particles

Fried hemp would most likely float mate. I used to use a fryer for boilies, works well for 2minute batches. You tried the coolbox method (also works with a plain old bucket), that has to be the best way if smell is an issue.
