Definitely. Great bit of kit. Some good offers around too. Just make sure to buy the HP version if you want to run it off c500 cylinders. managed to pick one up new for less than £80 from a camping web site
Definitely sounds like he’s used to that spot for himself. Trying to drive you off with the annoying noisy bite alarm trick. Just have to accept that he’s prebaiting for you. A bit of extra attractor in the bait might draw them up from his spot 😁😁
can see your point , but also - he might fish that spot regular and possibly be baiting it ? I do hate creating swims or cutting in only to find others not so willing but happy to jump in on or near my hard work I would chat with the guy- see if hes a regular and share info ?
Drennan roving 20l for stalking and travelling light. For longer sessions or carrying everything a Ridgemonkey Ruggage 40l Rucksack - well thought out comfortable and loads of room
Tried one on. IMO theyre crap. They don’t seem to sit right even when adjusted and feel very uncomfortable around the shoulders and I had to keep pulling the thing down my front back in to position. The heavy back board makes it back heavy . Wouldn’t recommend it. I went back happily to my...
very rarely take pictures of fish. More often than not - the fish don’t even leave the water , I prefer to get in the water to net and unhook then let them rest until they recover , drop the net and let them go when they’re ready only if it’s close to a pb would I retain a fish in the net or...
I went to Mark Tunley this year and was well impressed with his rods. He’s a great guy to talk to. Any rods I want in the future will be built by him. The Dark Carbon specialist 1.75 is a stunning rod. So much power and beautifully built. The 13.6 Specialist Float Rod is a well designed...
Sitting here reading this thread and the similarity of the Wye and the Severn come to mind. We could ask the same question of the Wye too. From my own experience on the Wye having fished the river for over 30 years now , one thing always springs to mind. The mainstay feed for the Barbel for...
Did really well on Sticky Krill a few seasons ago , but use Vortex Baits now. Love the Squid Liver Enzyme and the Frankfurter and Red Salmon Cocoons Really good bait
Hi Tim. one of my friends was a RDAA bailiff for the stretch from bablockhythe ferryman inn all the way to Northmoor many years ago , it was fished regularly but not great amounts of fishermen , it’s a long and interesting stretch with good spots for big Perch , Roach and Bream. Eels used to be...
Hi All
I used to fish Northmoor Weirpool above Bablockhythe when I was a kid with my old man , we used to pay the farmer in Appleton to fish on the bank in the weirpool field - below that I think was ODAA or Oxford and Abingdon Alliance then a university club all the way to opposite...
i have the same problem , but none-of the wading nets ever have a long enough handle or extend with ease enough whilst playing a big barbel , so the only solution I found works for me is an fully extended handle ( I use a Drennan long reach twistlock ) with a Gear Keeper heavy duty lockable...
Hi Richard. Yes it is. I fished all day on Friday for chub and barbel on the Wye. No arm ache It’s a well built powerful rod and lighter than his specialist 1.75 rod. I had a barbel over 12lbs on it on its first time out and there was so much power in the blank that I never felt undergunned...
I’ve been using a Mark Tunley 13’6 Specialist Float. Absolutely superb rod. Great fun playing chub and barbel upto double figure with plenty of power in reserve. Well worth the money. Well designed and built by one of the best Harrison rod builders and a really nice guy Great info on his...
Think these were filmed on private beats that can’t be booked. Think the aerial shot of one is possibly( and I stand to be corrected) below the Whitney Court stretch but private
No worries Tim. I may see you down there hangover permitting ( wedding in Bredwardine on saturday 🍻🍻😁😁) As I said - the track is driveable but a 4x4 is advisable as it’s very rutty in places.
Think most of the beats above Hay - certainly erwood to Builth will probably be game only - and none to my knowledge have vehicle access like the middle stretches. The red lion Bredwardine has beat 6 which is day ticket and is driveable if you have a 4x4. The straight above the bridge is...
I’ve been fishing the Wye since the early 90s and used to keep logs of levels , temperatures , weedy areas etc. I found a couple the other day and a couple of things are noticeable
The river is a shadow of former self now as we know , one of the most noticeable changes is the lack of level and...
Another vote for the Tacklebox 36” Darenth Nets. So good I bought another. So much room. Had a 36lb carp in one when Tench fishing last week , a lovely deep net , a good extra is the machined spreader blocks you can get as spares too
