Sleep walking to oblivion.......not sure if this is true actually......look around you......the majority of people are better off that ever before. ( pre Covid ).
Hope this post does not offend anyone. The last time I posted something remotely political on here one of the contributors got very...
The Severn has flooded since time immemorial. Whilst I don't claim to be quite that age I can verify that it had not previously affected the Barbel fishing....

A little off subject but.....
As someone who has a lower back ( and kidneys that don't like being cold ) issue, I recently bought a elasticated lower back support with a woven copper insert in a bid to prevent 'issues' in that area. It only cost £7.00 on line and the copper inserts leave my back...
Personally I think night fishing should 'trialled ' by clubs using venues that are not too close to people's houses. There is no doubt that anti-social behaviour has been responsible for clubs losing water in the past. I wonder if clubs simply say ' no night fishing' without giving a trial in...
Hi Lawrence, sorry to hear about Gill, very sad indeed. You don't know me but I'm sure you would occasionally walk past where I was fishing at Cotheridge some evenings in the 90's?

Just found another gem....
Andy Orme-Barbel Fishing- Hunting for Barbel....again on youtube
Might only appeal to 'those of a certain age'
That's definitely me but hope others can enjoy it too

Hi Guys,
Came across this video on YouTube. This must have been recorded at least 30 years ago ( probably longer ). I don't mind admitting that this brought a lump to my throat as this is a 'snap shot in time 'of another age when the river was simply 'teeming' with fish. Not a 'how to catch...
A Dream of Jewelled Fishes by John Aston ( I will read a chapter of this every week, love it ).
Elite Barbel by Tony Miles ( how I imagined I fished for Barbel ,only done properly 😂).
Quest for Barbel by Tony Miles and Trevor West ( probably should be in every Barbel fishers library)

Nothing wrong with being 'old' Ady, I'm 69 and 'sharp as a tack'.
Now where did I put my underpants?
(Voice from the kitchen)
'You've put them on your head again dear'
Oops...😱

I suppose only the angler in question knows the truth of this capture. I believe if I had caught a river record I would want at least one witness just for my own piece of mind as in all the excitement it is easy to get confused and misread the scales.
I hate to disbelieve any angler who has had...
Hi Mike,
I may be saying the obvious but it has to be small baits and lighter tackle when the swim is appropriate for that approach. Personally I used to wait for the river ( lower Severn usually ) to have a 'drop on' and then I could use the heavier tackle and big smelly baits.
Regards,
