I made the mistake of buying some muckboots a couple of years ago without doing the research. I bought the tweed which kept my feet warm but the shallow tread meant that I frequently went ar$e over t1t when the banks were slippery. Been out this morning in my tay sports which are fantastic.

I have used John Baker baits for the last 4 seasons and have a great deal of confidence in them. His philosophy is based around good formulations, the freshest ingredients and, critically, correct application of the bait. With a half decent bait I am convinced that it is how you use it rather...
I bought the dinsmore net and it arrived today. This is going to sound rather boastful but it looks a bit small to me. I am trying to imagine a big Loddon double and I think it will be a tight squeeze. More worryingly the net cord came away with a loud crack when I was trying to get the net in...
Picked up a sack of hemp from Hinders today and was told that I might need to make it last. Apparently the Chinese aren't growing it for export any more and they expect supply to drop and prices to rise.

I have a fox predator rubberised net but I find that the mesh isn't deep enough to rest a fish after landing. I also have the gardner barbel spoon - great idea but the screws fall out (fixed with araldite) and the rim has bent too easily when lifting big fish from the water, even when hanging...
After a particularly impressive flood on the Loddon I found a kayak half way up a tree in one of my favourite swims. I eventually managed to return it to its rightful owner who lived in a house with river frontage about a mile upstream.

My cheapo plastic gardner sausage gun has given up the ghost and I am in the market for an aluminium model. The gardner XT guns are a bit pricey - does anyone use one of the much cheaper aluminium guns being flogged on ebay and elsewhere? Are they any good?
Cheers

I went for an end of season deadbait wobbling session many years ago. I liked to travel light and carried a few deads in the poachers pocket of my jacket. Came home and hung the jacket in the garage and forgot about it. The family started moaning about a smell that was getting worse and worse...
Have a look on the Loddon thread for a picture taken at the weekend on self timer + remote on the canon G5. Great little camera - takes a while to get the best set up. Bought it on ebay for about £50.

There are a lot of people who seem to be prepared to pay a lot for tackle & books recently:
Bought one of these for 15 quid quite recently:
